IMHO. Some algos will be favouring compute cards and some will be favouring the Gaming ones. But the economy of resell is always in favour of gamming cards.

If the speed is twice the 480, then it is worth buying.
the entry can't have double the speed of the 480, that maybe the entusiasm model, which would cost 599 or maybe 499? very expensive, the entry level should reach 175% of 480 hashrate, which is good for density i think
What do you think guys wait for the vega or just buy the 5xx , when it will be released worldwide?
Imo, maybe spend half to 3/4 of your budget on Rx 570 4gb. It could be 2 months before we get our hands on vega, and our rx 570s will already be 70% Roi.
Personally I will be pre-ordering Vega if the price to Tflops is right.

What can the compute version offer over the standard gaming versions, aside from 16gb ram? It's not like memory bandwidth or compute power is increased so I'm not sure about the advantages, aside from getting it earlier.

the only thing we can do is wait and see what will be the performance difference between both and choose accordingly to this, resale value is not important if you reach roi, i might choose the compute one if the price is not too high
