Just for the records out of the parallel Namecoin thread:

XChange now has several thousand Namecoin's for sale & are looking to purchase several thousand Namecoins as well:  https://freebitcoins.com/xchange/market/Bitcoin-Namecoin

Big thank you to the Namecoin fellas willing to put a few Namecoins for sale.  This helps our Swap tool with Namecoin as well.
Nobody is interested in your private fake exchange with 4.50 USD daily trade volume! It's gonna end up in the scam notifications shortly together with your troll account! Unfortunately I was busy today with finishing another exchange with connected scam projects.
Oh, thanks for the reminder, I just forgot to rate your private fake exchange publicly. I didn't consider your website worth of mentioning anywhere so far, but as you're begging for it, I'll catch up on right now. Perhaps worth to mention that you just bought a highcharts template for your fake exchange, offering free Bitcoins worth around 1 USD cent. I've really never seen such a ridiculous marketing strategy! Is that all you got out of your investment of 25,000 USD back in 2016? I feel sorry for the guys you hired to implement your highcharts template, as you yourself unfortunately have no clue about coding... Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

For the public here the best of just out of this thread:

Kill yourself, I'm not wasting my time responding to you.
You're retarded.  I certainly don't believe you.
What a fucking loser weirdo... I'm just going to start reporting their laughable wannabe internet extortionists posts.

And FYI:

These days Zoltán Kondér from Switzerland aka John Doe (@rii4ne on Telegram) came into one of the Namecoin Telegram chats and asked to buy 1000 NMC. Furthermore, he offered to sell some Namecoin domains like crypto.bit (bought by himself with TxID a9bf653767b7615a074650f120cbcd49a29f1b10b0ba2e2e4c2db8f88cbf32ac from BM-2cXeN1HuY8h7nYAkPj1mny4Ki4wywPorwM). Furthermore, he claimed to own bit.bit (bought with TxID a9bf653767b7615a074650f120cbcd49a29f1b10b0ba2e4c2db8f88cbf32ac). A few years ago, he established a fake "Human Rights Foundation" and scammed about $22 million USD. Furthermore, he claims to be a terrorist who, in particular, would have the right to kill the founder Thor Halvorssen as well as the current chairman Garry Kasparov of the "Human Rights Foundation" on hrf.org. As justification for the deadly forth, he claims the right "to defend one's property against intruders, which would include intellectual properties", such as the domain name humanrights(.)foundation of his fake organization. Furthermore, he claims that he "founded" his organization before hrf.org, moreover hrf.org would have copied his concept of donating in Bitcoins and they would thus be scammers. Furthermore, he confirmed to be the one who claims to have designed the real (original) Namecoin logo and proudly presented i.a. his links to the English Wikipedia talk page as well as the deletion discussion on Commons. Furthermore he stated to have registered the domain namecoin(.)dev where he wants to present his logo and claim to represent the real Namecoin. Last but not least, he announced to complain about Jeremy Rand and yanmaani in front of NLnet for not declaring their received donations publicly. I clearly advised him not to do so, as this is not the way to deal with internal conflicts (even if, like me, you have serious reasons not to cooperate with Jeremy Rand). As Zoltán Kondér continues his death threads, I strongly recommend not to deal with him in any way, not to sell him domains or Namecoins and not to collaborate with him or even visit his websites! See this thread for more details. I have banned him from all groups and channels.

Today Namecoin celebrates its 10th anniversary! On Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 00:26:41 (GMT/UTC), the Genesis block (block 0) was generated - and the very first fork of Bitcoin and thus the world's first alternative cryptocurrency was born! Namecoin, along with Bitcoin, was and is primarily intended as an alternative Domain Name System (DNS) for websites, with the goal of becoming independent of regular ICANN domains with Top Level Domains (TLD) such as .com, .net or .org.

As a key/value store, Namecoin allows any record on the blockchain such as identities and whatever data up to a size of 255 bytes for the key (255 ASCII characters such as numbers and letters, i.e. the name of the record like a domain name) and additional 520 bytes for the value (520 ASCII characters, e.g. the DNS configuration of a domain). So in total a key/value pair can contain 775 bytes or 775 ASCII characters (see record with TxID b5a1d922cb66299ced3856b8b112201f798b81dee31a4483e935f43866bb5554 as an example).

Today, Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 00:30:02 (GMT/UTC) we mined block 554960. So including the Genesis block, we got 554,961 confirmations of block 0. During these 10 years, a total of 5,584,201 TxIDs (transactions) were written to the blockchain, including the so-called Coinbase transactions for newly mined blocks that credit the miner's wallet with the reward. Subtracting the Coinbase transactions, 5,029,240 TxIDs were issued, so 5 million transactions for transferring coins and creating and updating names. On average, these are 10 TxIDs per block including the Coinbase transactions (or 9 TxIDs per block excluding the Coinbase transactions) and 152 blocks per day over the last 10 years.

Meanwhile some interesting facts out of the Namecoin blockchain:

At the moment we have 520,530 blocks and 5,413,689 transactions (coinbase transactions for generating newly mined coins included), so on average 10.4 TxIDs per block.

For normal name transactions we have in general two inputs (coming from previous TxIDs) and two outputs for the next transactions (each time one for the name operation and one for the remaining funds of the wallet).

We have 2 TxIDs with the maximum of each 863 inputs (such as TxID 3780a5ea5e5b269c073c335c0d186a5d3df621fe2582998eeb939398b29b045a at block 389,582)

and 18 TxIDs with the maximum of each 2650 outputs (such as TxID 5875a0009b158f594d14a164e4b035355372c7a5c70c0acb2654c3eb1f92c61c at block 99,489).

At block 19,200 in October 2011 merged mining was introduced for parallel mining together with SHA-256 encoded currencies such as Bitcoin. Namecoin is being mined for free in parallel mode at this point, it took a few month, until the last miners were configured for that combined mining.

Due to inadequate coinbase data we have 52 double/multiple TxIDs, which aren't indexed in the known blockchain explorers. The latest double TxID appeared in June 2013. This issue was then resolved with BIP 30 and BIP 34. For documentation here the affected TxIDs:

Sad enough that such a question comes up, but of course, this is a legitimate question and is owed to the impotence of the previous developer team to bring the project forward, meanwhile within 9 years! As Namecoin is primarily a blockchain based domain name system it's of course a long-term project. The goal of the blockchain explorer at namecoin.online with all advanced features is to make this blockchain DNS service more attractive and even directly applicable in showing blockchain entries for which purpose ever. Both the format of the blockchain entries itself as well as the formatting of the output on the blockchain explorer are flexible and endless forms of applications are possible. The connected domain trading platform is of course also for making a business, but for the blockchain domains this will only be really interesting when Namecoin DNS is finally established as a serious alternative to ICANN domains such as .com, .net and .org TLDs. So anyway a long-term project.

At the moment not more than it is online at the new Namecoin Telegram channel. The new blockchain explorer with advanced features and the connected domain trading platform I'm still programming. I'll document it here detailed when it's ready to run publicly.

Is this a relaunch actually worth noting? Or just some tidy up work so large holders can gain some liquidity to make a hasty exit?

I cannot but agree with OP, the are big issues here because there's not really any team behind the project, just a loose cooperation between people interested in NMC from a technical point of view.

I always thought however that this was going on as a secret coordinated manouver over the years to crash the price so someone could buy cheap Namecoins. But turns out it's just laziness. As a example, bitinfocharts stopped suporting for Namecoin graphs, many exchanges delisted etc. All because they can't contact anyone to get help in updating NMC.

About JR: This guy have the same problem than Greta. He can focus on one subject but can't social.(Aspergers) Also he's just a self-teached programmer.

A message to JR: Let more people critizice and join the team. Let people do things.

Are we seeing fork because the community is divided?

The project seem to be in just one direction so it has to be one community with one goal after all their community would like to succeed to finally have all the services to provide. Domain registration as far as I know is just one of the objective right?

I also want that .bit email services. I'd like to have on myself. This is one of the oldest project in crypto, some say its the first before BTC.

Namecoin was a big deal back in the day, I mined it regularly alongside the BTC and collected mine for its future usage for a long time.  Shame it never took off as it had a solid basis as an altcoin.   Its best not to have project reliant on personalities especially but open development, this always seems to happen that the details can snag it and keep it from full usage by anyone.  I dont see that non public or semi public websites must be criminal, it can just be an independant route and part of the redundancy to the internet >
