If I have to explain every single link, source for individuals in post; they might as well remove the ability to embed URLs in text from the forum.

First and foremost a single link is not substantial or of any value.  It was removed because I considered it a low/no value post.

I don't click links on the forum as a general rule especially from unknown "hostile/aggressive" new posters.  I don't ever click links from trolls either (not saying you fit the troll category).

I also don't generally consider posting an entire article with a link at the bottom of it with 0 comments or a 1 line comment to be of much value.  I have not yet started to delete these kinds of posts yet but I am probably going to make a post about it asking people to stop doing it before I start deleting those kinds of posts.

I've had several posts that I thought were clever memes and links deleted by the mods. Oh well. It's not like any of them really needed to remain immortalized.   Cheesy

Never underestimate the importance of a good meme.  Grin

Unfortunately most of them end up like this:

But you can always immortalize them here:

Certainly mistakes happen. I haven't checked the ops link to see if it shouldn't have been deleted, but even if it shouldn't have been mistakes happen all the time.

I think before I became a moderator I had a mod message me for deleting one of my posts a few years ago, and other people have hinted at this too.

I'm not sure who deleted the posts, but I can vouch for this at least. I've woken up to more than 1000 reports, and I only moderate a few sections, and newbies. Global moderators must have thousands, upon thousands of reports.

I've seen the sheer amount of crap posted on here daily and have the utmost respect for the moderators.

I have had posts removed where it had dubious reasons for removal. But I believe it is due to the person who reported it rather than the moderator.

It happens - there is more to life than a deleted post.

Yes, your post appears quite clever in retrospect.  However, you have to understand that the mods are probably getting hundreds maybe thousands of reports per day.  If they came across one and it had one word, I could see them not taking the time to investigate the link and how it justifies the post.  Try not to take it too personally.

Better QA on the human mods then Sad

Just seems now that quantity of words > quality of words.

Sometimes good posts get deleted by accident because they look like Poop.

Get over it. Poop happens !

It:
1) Was most likely reported
2) Just looked like a 1 word poop-post to both the moderator and person who reported it.

It was unfortunate because it was clever & funny and people missed out on seeing it.

People have seen it now so you have had your 20 seconds of poop.  Grin

There's no need for a full explanation, but it would be nice to quickly read what the link is about without having to open it.

Spippet taken from the BCTalk rules
--

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

--
1. Such posts like "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.
--
Someone probably saw your post history/was offended by you and reported you. Being a newbie who posted a one-word reply doesn't help when Mods are getting hundreds of reports per day

Why do I get the impression you read the thread title and didn't bother reading any of the replies?

If you had, you'd realize that none of that really relates to this situation.

Speaking of posts deleted by Admin. This feature is one of the Forum updates, this is due to posts that violate Forum rules, such as making inappropriate posts and inappropriate posts to be posted on Forum.

Many posting factors will be deleted by the Admin.

1. Pornography and indecent posts have a negative impact.

2. Posts related to politics or campaigns.

3. spam like posting articles that are too often in a fairly short time etc.

CONCLUSION:
Deleting posts is the most severe sanction or term that must be received by bitcointalk members who post because the post of topics that we discuss with difficulty must disappear in an instant, if your post is deleted you can post a more meaningful discussion in the future. So to avoid deleting you to read the rules of the game first so that you do not delete posts that you discuss later.

Not a single soul here would read the research paper even though it's literally on topic ._.

The article probably could kill the entire thread because it's something that scientists have been asking for the last 40-50 years... not just some random guy's thoughts/opinions.
that doesn't matter. all you did was post a link, none of your own thoughts or words. if you reposted that article with some narrative of your own included i doubt anyone would see a problem with it. but as is, i wholeheartedly agree with the moderator's decision to delete the post.

K. Random bullshit opinions that are somewhat related to the topic > research papers that discuss the topic in-depth.

Good to know where you standard on propagating information online.

In regards with technical aspects like doing some linking some article then it would be better to write down the title of the topic rather than using the word "poop" it does not sound that good and somehow could be annoying for some other members whom were spending their time consciously. Anyway, a deleted post will not going to reflect your dignity as a member and a posts which has been deleted also is considered as a natural phenomenon where vast spam posts.

Do it correctly next time for us to decide whether to open the article or not after reading a short description of the link.

A Minimal Turing Test

Quote
We introduce the Minimal Turing Test, an experimental paradigm for studying perceptions and meta-perceptions of different social groups or kinds of agents, in which participants must use a single word to convince a judge of their identity. We illustrate the paradigm by having participants act as contestants or judges in a Minimal Turing Test in which contestants must convince a judge they are a human, rather than an artificial intelligence. We embed the production data from such a large-scale Minimal Turing Test in a semantic vector space, and construct an ordering over pairwise evaluations from judges. This allows us to identify the semantic structure in the words that people give, and to obtain quantitative measures of the importance that people place on different attributes. Ratings from independent coders of the production data provide additional evidence for the agency and experience dimensions discovered in previous work on mind perception. We use the theory of Rational Speech Acts as a framework for interpreting the behavior of contestants and judges in the Minimal Turing Test.

Spendulus' post is also gone. If you reply to a post that gets deleted, it's likely to be deleted too. But I'd say your post looks insubstantial anyway. It's nothing more than a link dump, and you need to click the link to know what you're talking about.

Was the only word you put in your reply "poop" linked to the article??

Looks like a few of the posts where deleted from that thread. I can't really speak for the Moderator, but it could have been reported. Now had you typed more with that link to bring the turing test into context it may have stayed.

You could always just PM hellfish for clarification.
