PotCoin aims to become an official payment mechanism for the legalized marijuana industry. The ambiguous legal status of the industry in places like the US (Marijuana is legal in some states but still illegal at the federal level) makes it difficult for businesses to form banking relationships.
The criptocoin is a fork of Litecoin, which was launched in January 2014. Like most digital coins, it has gone up and down since then. However, it has a thriving user community, and is traded on at least 10 exchanges. Its current marketcap is $ 26.8 million.
