It is good for someone for sure, alternative payment! Fascinating  Wink . With crooked teeth I don't even know aftr 30-s (years) what are the alternatives, don't want brackets. buahh...

Did you do preliminary consultation before making conclusions?  Huh Grin In some cases this is the only choice possible if you want a good smile. Well depends on many other factors and first is the amount of money that he/she can spend on teeth. My parents live abroad, and they told me if I don’t want brackets to use tallah services because it’s easy and it worked for them, even after the age of 40 plus. In the lower jaw, the front teeth were crooked, so I decided to try. Experience was okay, did not bother me to the point of leaving them. Sure, my smile now is different. Try, and contact them.

It is very good that your dentist accepts the same payments. It affords him to have a lot of clients through this. I am very glad with this decision because after this other dentists will implant this payment. I don't have cryptocurrencies and I pay only with cash or with my card. I have the best dentist in the town which make his work with big attention and accord much time for a patient because he is based on quality not quantity. He is the best, you can find more information on heritagedentistree.com.

Hi guys,

a bit off-topic but some of you might be interested. Hungary has a quite established dental tourism industry and thanks to the high quality of education and cheap prices thousands flock to to the country from Western-Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, China etc. to take care their teeth.

Finally we got a clinic here in Budapest who accepts bitcoin, litecoin, ether.

https://www.bitcoinbazis.hu/english/contident-is-the-first-hungarian-dental-clinic-to-accept-bitcoin-and-altcoin-payments/
I am not sure about the movement of people moving to Hungary for dental appointment besides Hungary is not a power force when it comes to clinical matters. We still have countries like Germany, India and the rest.
And in dental educational standard it not on top of the list well according to this article https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings-articles/university-subject-rankings/new-ranking-worlds-top-dental-schools

Hi, I am not sure I am the best to answer these questions. But what I know, regarding the education, it had way higher standards after the transition from Communism to free market economy (90ies). It followed a sort of Prussian standards which is obsolete now, but demanded a lot of memorization and great emphasis on science subjects (check the Nobel-winner Hungarians, most of them are scientists). Now since that has been messed up, which is caused one hand by the EU education system harmonization efforts. Also this sort of rankings are fundamentally flawed because it has been designed to rank well the Anglophone educational institutes.

Now regarding medical tourism in Hungary including dental, I must say, it is booming and Austrians, Germans flock to Hungary, Romania, Poland etc. to treat their teeth. Close to the Austrian border there are countless clinics ONLY accepting tourists. The main reason of course is economical.

What the dentist has planned is really a good thing understanding the future growth and accepting bitcoin into the dental practices. In every prime location there will be few dental clinics and when one initiates such a plan, possibly the one around the location might also start accepting bitcoin. At the beginning days it won't get large number of users. As days pass scenario changes.

This is really a great idea and approach to earn BTC slowly but your patients must feel comfortable paying your fees as BTC.

Honestly, you'll garner a lot of interest just from having Bitcoin offered as a payment. I know it'd be a huge pro for myself.

I'd get yourself on CoinMap (and other Bitcoin map services), in order to promote your business as a "bitcoin" business. I know I've checked those maps and have found a lot of businesses I would check out. I've even gone to a few, and paid w/ both Cash & Bitcoin (and even become a reoccurring customer at some)

Hello everybody,
I am a dentist owning more than one dental pratices.
I am looking forward to start accepting cryptocurrencies into my business.
Actually i would probably accept part in real money (Say 30%) part in crypto.
I am also thinking about opening a sort of dentalplan (paying an annual fee, gives access to a lot of discounts and guarantees) in this casse It would Be 100% crypto.
What do you guys think about? Suggestion?
Thanks for your time!!
Hi Beman30, if you are a practicing dentist interested in cryptocurrencies, I would highly recommend you look into the first and only coin for the global dental industry - Dentacoin.

Where are you based? I am afraid in my long life I didn't took care of my tooths, I was only twice on emergencies with my back tooth / molar, still having a lot of problems in that area. If you can post some links about your clinic I would happily give a visit to one of your clinics, also can help for free to set-up a bitcoin/alt cryptocurrencies payment system.

Hello Developerx, i am based in Italy, but the project is worldwide. The idea is to find dentists in your city, rather than doing it in my Clinics (too few patients otherwise).

Send me a PM if interested

Italy is expensive by default at dentists as I lived more than 10 years of my life in Catania, I know that. Last time I paid 2500 euro to take out two molars that were infected.

Sent you a pm

lol dont do business with scammer, he promise to give back my money after took my money. always use escrow !!!
Saw your thread if you still in need of it i can do it i have rep offsite and can do it for $80,pm me your telegram and we can sort a deal

Do some research to minimize the risk, you have to know your focus either you take it as a means of payment only
or you also plan to hold it long term just like investors do. These two things are necessary for you to understand because
crypto in general is risky and you might end up holding a useless coin if you fail to sell it at the right timing.

I'm always in favor of your plan but you should take some advise, you are a great help for the market adoption as you can also
help decimate information about crypto to your potential clients since you can talk to them face to face.

With different sort of payments, this will help you increase your market, if you noticed, there is growing number of business now
that are accepting crypto, so your decision is just timely.

Thanks for your interest!
yes i am aware about the risk associated, i traded currencies a few years ago so i will probably try hedging it (will look further if possible). Right now i am really trying to understand if there is a potential market, i am not doing it for my own clinics otherwise i would nail me down to a couple of cities. I am trying to give a service worldwide. So when i have a potential patients i will find a potential dentist. It is something i already do, i am just adding bitcoins into the payment process.

That's a problem, not only here but in the whole crypto community. People consider Bitcoin as an investment or a store of value and not as it's supposed to be used...a currency. (Can you stop calling Bitcoin an investment?) I also remember a recent study (like +6 months ago) saying two-thirds of Bitcoin transactions are related to trading and not a real use.

thanks for the precious infos, i will surely go trough reading all, but it will require time, since you seem informed...

" up-to-two-thirds-of-bitcoin-transactions-have-no-economic-value" i feel you... but in my opinion this number doesn't mean a lot, it raises some more questions:

is it because there is not a real marketplace? so people don't really know where to spend them?

two-third of transcations could mean billions, i don't know how much it could be in real $$, so even if getting a 1% of them could mean some millions.

is it beacuse after the stall bitcoins got everybody is holding their positions? so next bull market people will start spending them? those are great infos, but they don't really clear why people wouldn't use them as a currency

This is a nice initiative and a good way to promote the use of Bitcoin. I think i need to tap into this idea and at least get about 15% of my income in Bitcoin. I believe you have done enough research and studies on why the market value of bitcoin is constantly changing, if no please I will advise you to take some time to that and understand this basis.

@Beman30

Something to think about is what advantage people will get to pay you with Bitcoin? If none, then why someone would use is coins to pay a dentist, knowing people prefer to hold their bitcoins and wait to see the price increase, etc. People are only interested in money

If I get a 10% discount if I pay with Bitcoin I may think about it but other than that why should I pay with BTC. I could simply convert BTC to fiat and pay you with.
Also, did you consider that most people have health insurance? Let's say someone pays you in BTC and then the insurance refund in fiat? where is the interest for the patients?

I do give discounts with dentalplan (similar to insurance), you don't get a refund but you get a 30% discount, i could say to pay full and give a 30% back, maths is the same. I would do it for Crypto and real currency, otherwise it would be a suicide, but i get your point.
If people prefer to hold them (you could be very right, actually i think you are...) in that case Bitcoins wouldn't be a currency, just a speculation tool, there will never be use of them in the real world. If that is the case all the project will fail even before starting (happens...).

I tought people would be glad to use Bit because they are a very powerful instrument who could change the cost of money and anything associated, if not i see no use for cryptocurrencies. I am ready to help anyone who wants to use them an exchange tool, if people wants just to speculate, that is fine, but i am out! Smiley

Wow the first part was already a great plan and you even made the better plan for getting paid with crypto with that benefits. For sure your customers would like to take on those discounts if buying that plan through bitcoin will be their way, they won't pass that opportunity.

All the things you said are to take into considerations, but first; i need to see if there is a market or not...
You can market that through posting it outside your clinic, like the usual streamer or banner of "Bitcoin accepted here".

It's a wise idea and one that will further the bitcoins cause in terms of adoption,as long as bitcoin is legal in your area and it's knowledge is inherent in a large number of the population then what you're aspiring to do is a noble cause
And if you're willing to handle the volatility of the bitcoin which you must out into consideration, you will also have to fake out done time to educate yourself patients on how to use the bitcoin should in case they lack such knowledge

The idea is 100% good, but there are some nuances. The whole thing is whether the patients in your clinic know something about cryptocurrency and do they own any cryptocurrency assets?I suggest you make an advertisement in the city or area where your clinic is located. And look for a reliable, good cryptocurrency wallet. And to connect all in one advertising-to make advertising clinics, cryptocurrency and wallet.Maybe it'll attract a lot of patients.

Thanks for all the support!

One thing that absolutely came to my mind is that this is a real community, you guys want to make it work and this is a great thing, being a community will make things easier and faster, for me and for you. We will be able to customize the service before making it "big". We will start with a very very narrow service (not scalable), while this will get bigger and bigger we will try to scale it.

I will follow the project personally and if needed i will come to visit you or the reference dentist with you. I am not trying to earn money, at the moment i would be more than satisfied to cover a part of the expenses associated with the project.

So enough talking, now you guys have to show me how serious are Smiley
We will try to make it real, the first thing is to test it out, in this way i'll be able to understand the weakness associated to the project, this is what i need:

1) one of you, friend, family member, you name it, who needs dental work, i am talking about "heavy" treatment not a filling, just to be clear.

2) I will find a dentist where you live, we will make a first visit an x-ray and a quote for free.

3) If the quote and the treatment plan will satisfy you,  we will start a payment plan all in Crypto, no "real" money involved

4) i will start to get a grasp about crypto flaws and good... at that point we will make some more test with different patients and dentists.

5) when we will have some numbers to "crunch" i will start to find professional help (maybe one of your contact) to be able to understand crypto deeply

6) to be continued...

Let's start to dance please if you are interested send a PM or wright it here on the forum.

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!

This is the message, i wrote before, actually looking for a patients+dentist is a good way to start a collaboration, Crypto or not... in this way it would be a beginning to ignite the project.

Edit: so i will start from crypto user then i will find look for the dentist

Healthcare provider here. Just use BitPay or Coinbase Merchant. They both convert right away into fiat. I've been doing this since 2011 - I can count on one hand the number of times it's been used, and I've always lived in the biggest, tech-savvy, progressive, young cities. It's not likely to affect your practice at all, however since it's just another payment link/option, it doesn't negatively affect your practice in any way. It does make taxes on your schedule C (or S-corp LLC) far more complicated - I use CrytpTrader.tax - it's very effective and audit-proof. You have to file 8949s for any and all 1099-Ks you get.

Thank you very much, very appreciated. May i ask you, if you sell some of your service online?

Yes, the patients can pay their copays through a patient portal. I have debit/credit, PayPal, e-check, and crypto possibilities. Venmo and Paypal get way more use among millennials. Even though no one uses crypto really, it does seem to give the aura of "hipness" and cutting-edge tech, which is useful as advertising. I've have had some older people (fox news types) refuse to see me because of crypto's scammy reputation, but with my native personality and edgy political/economic ideas, I'm sure it would have been a bad fit anyway. But taking crypto is definitely a two-edged sword in medical practice, much like advertising.

The thing is crypto is going to sink back to its true value. It definitely has a future, but more like a 5-year to 10-year span. I sold out my first wave of bitcoin at $1000. I think that's its true value now. I think we're going to sink to the 2000s at least in the near future. I would leave like 10-20K each on 10 different exchanges (not too much at one exchange because a loss is very likely at an exchange) to buy back in at around 2k, maybe even with limit orders. If it never rebounds just take your money back in two years. I wouldn't leave anything in crypto holdings now because you'll lose capital.

I feel that taking crypto is the best way to move it forward. This is dot com all over again. I made good money off the future FANG same way at the end of the 90s. Just because something's true (like crypto) doesn't mean everyone sees it yet - markets are moved by the masses, not individuals. Patience and precision are key.

thanks again, very usefull informations.

That's good, because people who come forward with acceptance of bitcoin into their own business were helping big in the growth as well in the spreading of cryptocurrencies and its needs. What you laid as the base will make more Marketplaces to accept cryptocurrency into their own business later on. Few of my friends were dentist, but they don't have any knowledge about it. Now a dentist accepting bitcoin is truly appreciable.

Maybe only a few people will use it, not even everyone has a bitcoin or crypto currency, maybe because of the problem of legalization that is not so good in all bitcoin players, but I am very supportive of your idea as a dentist who has a bright idea, hopefully, success with your idea !!

Even a dentist like you are now planning to accept bitcoin as payment. It seems that many more people are now adopting it. In my country, there is application that the bitcoin users are using in order for them to exchange goods and services. Coins.Ph is the most popular and reliable bitcoin application  in my country that can be use in order to send and receive bitcoins.

The most important thing that you then had no problems from the state for it. But if there are no problems, you have come up with a great idea. I'd be happy to pay crypto for dental work.

I would to come a dentist like that. You did the right thing that you decided to implement such rules in your profession. People need more places where they could pay with cryptocurrency. It's good that you encourage it.

If you are a doctor and want to accept Bitcoin as a payment tool, that is a good thing. but if you have allowed Bitcoin transactions at the place where you are, because if the drug supplies run out you have to buy it with money. if in your country Bitcoin has been legalized or will be legalized, then accepting Bitcoin as a payment tool is a very brilliant idea.

irrespective of the profession or skill or carrier or job or occupation or talent, it is all about payment and that is a business transaction and the best i know about business transactions is that payment is always involved and it has to be made through a medium as long as it has value. cryptocurrencies have value and it can be accepted by anyone who knows what it is and what values it has.

Good idea. The spread of bitcoin depends only on us, and if we try to promote it in different industries, it will contribute to its scalability. That's great. Therefore, I fully support your idea.

I congratulate you on your interest in the technology and courage you have shown. Although many companies think of using bitcoin as a means of payment, they are not taking any steps and your attempt will be encouraging others to take a leading role on this matter.

Well, in my opinion, things like this would not be possible to really be applied, even some customers might find it difficult to use your services. Has payment for cash been difficult for you so far ?
This is about how your customers satisfied with your services, as long as they good with it, just use it.

Anything new Is tough. I would Be Happy with a 1% customers using it. Than working on It to make It become 5% in a couple of years.

Someone talked about Malta, nice Place for Dental tourism. Attracting people All around the world could Be usefull.

I wouldn't worry about volatility because it's a sword that cuts both ways. Since the price goes up and down, you can be sure that in time it will go back to where it was. It's important to have enough money on the side to be able to buy supplies while the prices are down, and I know how much medical supplies can cost you. It's basically half of what a dentist charges. There are countries in the EU that are very open to crypto businesses and have minimal taxation, like Malta.

Absolutely. Lots of people are dying to use crypto in real life. If my country does support crypto and if crypto can be used in any shop then I could be the best buyer! Even it gives me a fantastic feeling by thinking that, crypto is using in every shop center and even in the e-commerce website! I hope our dream will be fulfilled gradually and crypto will be accepted by every country.

You have made a great plan to help the crypto platform by helping yourself! Crypto payment is a good decision, though at this moment the crypto market is going through under a hard condition, but as you are a dentist and accepting only 30% in crypto payment then this idea can make you popular, different and also rich. Good Luck.

First of all, thanks everybody for your interest and fast response.
I consider myself an entrepenuer rather than a dentist. I Ve builded 3 clinics very fast and pretty succesfully, now i am trying to do something new.
I would like to replicate my successfull business model to other dentists (also in other countries) and i was thinking to introduce other Payments methods.
Great decision, but you should at least be familiar with it and learn more about this industry, like how you can stay your crypto safe, how to recover your funds once software malfunction or whatever.

I feel like It Is risky, but being One of the First using It could Be a huge advantage over competitors.
I would like to involve more and more dentists.
My motto Is "make dentistry affordable for everyone". So to speak crypto could help me out reaching that goal...
I Will Need to dig Infos before accepting It, so any Little suggestion would Be helpfull to make the process faster.

One concern Is about taxes, how are they regulated in Europe? Are there countries where It Is easier to accept them? Obviously i Will ask also to professionist, but sometimes (often) users are more informed than others...
I will suggest that much better if you accept segwit and lightning payment as well for faster transactions. Also about the tax
Fortunately, in all EU countries and Switzerland and Liechtenstein, cryptocurrency sales are exempt from the VAT.
Though I don't know if its still applicable now, don't see some news about taxation in EU countries.

Will give It a try to the payments methods you suggested

First allow me to say that you are the coolest dentist alive.

Now with that being said, i personally believe that your first idea is better right now than the second one. For example,  you can accept Bitcoins and have a company instantly transfers it to fiat currency for your bank account(Since business require money to pay the bills) and you would be supporting cryptocurrency at the same time.

Here's one example: https://bitpay.com/retail

For the annual fee the same thing could be done. If you set a fixed price in dollars for example you shouldn't have any issues, it's up to the customers if they would like to pay for the annual plan when Bitcoin is low.

Thanks! Will see of i will Be able to make It real.

About spending bitcoins, i builded up pretty much a name into industry, this means i could convince suppliers ti accept crypto as payments, making It more circular.

Do you guys know of anybody "loans" crypto?

Like i borrow you x and you will pay me back monthly+fees

Would it be possible for you to give some sort of discount when people use cryptocurrency to pay?
In the end, you are saving on transaction fees and it's always a good thing to have less cash in your offices (to combat stealing)

I've seen some stores give out a 5 or 10% discount when people pay with Bitcoin.

I think it’s a great idea but you’ll need to find the best places to advertise. I’m not sure where or how you’d go about that to get the best exposure.

as long as you are considering two things, i'd say it is a great decision.
first is the volatility that bitcoin and mostly other cryptocurrencies have which can eat into what you earn a lot at times. but if you can get over that risk then it can be a good potential for profit too as bitcoin is going to grow for sure.
second is whether there is a market for that. what i mean is whether your patients (since it can be different depending on the countries) even know about bitcoin and most importantly whether they are willing to spend it or are they only interested in hoarding bitcoin.

About cripto/crypto It Is my damn t9!! I Will change It ASAP

Just to add, you can use services like Bitpay[1] if you want to have a work-around for you to prevent being f*cked up by the volatility.

Also, mind telling us why you decided to accept cryptocurrencies? Is it just because you're also a bitcoin/crypto enthusiast? or is it because a lot of your customers are asking to pay with bitcoin/cryptocurrencies?

For corrections it's cryptocurrency not criptocurrency.
You wanting to accept cryptocurrency as a medium of payment in your dental clinic would in my opinion be a great idea but you must accept established coin like the top three coins in the coin market cap especially bitcoin.

Good luck mate
