It's too early to conclude whether it will be a circus or not! I am sure that we all have faced bureaucratic delays and red-tepism in various departments of the government. It is a huge problem in developing countries and I don't think it's any less problem for the US.

So if someone is trying to change the status quo and challenge the current situation for better, that's indeed going to be a great help for the citizens.

Let's wait and watch before jumping to a conclusion.
Bureaucratic bottlenecks have been one of the problems of public corporations. Accessing goods or services from these public companies goes through unnecessary delays that are absent in private organizations. And they are usually overstaffed. That is why most people prefer private organizations.

If DOGE can change the narrative and make public enterprises more effective, it will be a welcome development but it should be done to avoid job losses. Civil servants who will be laid off should be compensated and given other job options.

But I am wondering how Elon Musk will combine his role in DOGE and his partnership with the US government. He is a major contractor with the US government. Will he also discover waste in the services he provides for the US government?

We will see in the due course of time! Elon Musk is indeed one of the major contractors, but only time will tell if the DOGE initiative works for us or not! Let's give him that time. Nothing can be done overnight so he will need time to identify the gaps and build an action plan to cover the gap. Let's wait. That's all I want to say.

Criticism is always welcome but it's way too early for that!

Ilon Musk has created an official Twitter account for D.O.G.E
https://x.com/DOGE

"We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE. We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants."

Billionaires Bill Ackman, Marc Andreessen, and Travis Kalanick are reportedly getting involved in DOGE
https://fortune.com/2024/11/25/bill-ackman-marc-andreessen-elon-musk-doge-trump-administration/

"Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy are seeking volunteers to be a part of their first-of-its-kind, unofficial government entity, according to the Washington Post, which cited people familiar with the matter.

The world’s richest man and the former Republican presidential candidate are apparently interviewing Washington, D.C., and Silicon Valley’s finest, spending the past week in the capital and at Mar-a-Lago, two hubs of the new political universe. Musk and Ramaswamy were tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to run the Department of Government Efficiency, with a subcommittee chaired by none other than Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Now they’re tapping their networks, or, at the very least, other Silicon Valley execs.

The outreach appears to include venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale, hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, and former Uber chief executive Travis Kalanick. Antonio Gracias, a former Tesla director, and Steve Davis, president of the Boring Company, were named too. The latter two are affiliated with Musk’s many companies.

And it seems that cohort is involved in the planning but, more specifically, is expected to work on technical challenges to collecting data on federal employees and programs. Andreessen is recruiting talent, according to the Washington Post.

The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, is supposedly charged with cutting costs and reducing headcount. “We are entrepreneurs, not politicians. We will serve as outside volunteers, not federal officials or employees. Unlike government commissions or advisory committees, we won’t just write reports or cut ribbons. We’ll cut costs,” Musk and Ramaswamy wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, despite regularly denouncing the media. "

I saw this picture on X and it explains my view about the DOGE. There is nothing wrong with cutting costs but its consequences should be well handled. There should be provisions for people who will lose their jobs if some government agencies and departments are merged or scraped. Humans are not machines that are just concerned with work. Working for 80 hours per week looks like modern-day slavery. Elon Musk has shown that that he cares less about the well-being of workers, maybe he should employ robots.

This is so fast; he just created that account recently, not even up to 72 hours, and it's already on a million+ followers. This shows how people have been following up on the whole thing and wanting not to miss an update that the department wants to share.

But why does he make the application proceed to be done through X, which means anyone who went to work or submitted an application must own an X account as one of the unmentioned criteria to qualify for the job? Let's sit and wait to see how it goes when the department fully starts operation.
