Just look at the chart in this post, its so easy to create a token or ICO that anyone can do it.

The general public wants to get rich and will buy anything that sounds good.  You can protect yourself from scams by ignoring what everyone says and do you own research into each ICO you may be interested in. Look at the team, ensure they exist, read the whitepaper and make sure it sounds like it will be useful and is not full of buzzwords and clones of another project.  Double check everything, read the shills and see their background of other projects how did they do?  You can protect yourself from scams but you have to put in the work.

If you are to take a look on Upwork and other freelancer sites, there are a dearth of people who are looking for cheap developers to complete entire cryptocurrency projects and ICOs.

How much would you think that they would be asking for projects of this size? 100k? 80k?

Well, the first project had a opening offer of $5 because the person posting wanted some time to "gather the best proposals".

There were any number of examples on Upwork. More disconcerting though is the evidence that there are a number of fiverr sellers that specialise in writing White Papers for ICOs.

Does this point to a new laziness in an era of scammy ICOs? How do we effectively screen for these types of projects?
