Developer Bitcoin Core and co-founder of Blockstream Greg Maxwell left the company

Developer Bitcoin Core and co-founder of Blockstream Greg Maxwell said that he left the company, as he does not agree with the promotion of the Lightning Network.

Maxwell said that he decided "Give more time to independent work". "We hoped that Blockstream could help act as an anchor for supporting technology development and thereby contribute to the development of society. I think it was a great success ", - wrote the developer.

Maxwell also noted that in fact he left Blockstream at the end of November, but continued to work until the new year.

Don't be ridiculous and don't fall for some propaganda shit.
Maxwell was being targeted as the one person who controls what goes into bitcoin or not. Most allegations then follow linking the core team with Blockstream and banks.
Maxwell has stated that he wants independent time to work on further protocols "for bitcoin". He was also one of the co-founders of Blockstream with the aim of developing an ecosystem that can sustain itself by contributing to bitcoin and they have accomplished that.

He doesn't say anywhere that he was against LN. That is a lie coming from your Bcash shilling brain.

He is clearly stated his intention to continue working fro Bitcoin, just unhinged from the formal obligations of being a CTO. This is a streak of a lot of tech people that they don't like the management jobs. He is just going to his roots and his contributions will make Bitcoin stronger for the future.

EDIT: Here's the link to his official post regarding the resignation:

Who cares if he leaves and works for another company, the creator of bitcoin himself left the project but does that have any bad effects on bitcoin? nothing. i dont think that there is any wrong with lightning network, it is just those people that dont want to reduce the transaction fee that dont like lightning to be implemented. what im referring is those mining farm owners that dont want to have solution to this problem so that they can earn more profit.

However, it was necessary to eliminate the shortcomings of bitcoin for a long time. Now bitcoin has developed a rather tense situation and despite its extreme popularity, he gradually began to lose it and people in it are disappointed. Maxwell says that he wanted to be an anchor, so we do not need them. Bitcoin should immediately respond to all changes in society and quickly eliminate the identified shortcomings. In general, the network of lightning is very good, it solves almost all the problems of bitcoin and introduces new approaches to working with crypto currency. In the first place, it is the network of lightning that must be attempted to be introduced into bitcoin.

What's the issue with the lightning network tho?

to be honest it seems more like a lot of political drama bullshit to me!

but what we see publicly is that blockstream has been encouraging people to make transactions on mainnet using lightning network but LN developers are saying it is not yet ready for regular people to make real transactions on mainnet, it may still have bugs and people will lose real money if you encourage them like this.

Too centralized?

why is this the first thing that everyone thinks?

Okay? Idk, he's welcome to work where he likes. What's the issue with the lightning network tho? Too centralized? I haven't heard much about it other than the fact that it's up and running and to be careful with it for the time being because there aren't that many nodes.
