Contribute to open-source blockchain projects to showcase skills and build credibility. Focus on DeFi, smart contracts, or layer 2 solutions. Join dev communities, attend hackathons, and stay adaptable—opportunities will come.

Personally haven't gotten to the crypto space as a dev but I reckon in general any developer who wants to improve their skills and enter a specific scene is making projects about it. In this case crypto, so you can try doing a couple of projects on your own like your own shitcoin on a chain, open source contributions, and/or code review as well if possible. There are also start-up IT companies out there that are more crypto oriented so if you're able to find one you can jump start yourself from there since startups are usually great in terms of making you move (rushed a f most of the time though).

The quickest way to get started is to contribute to open-source projects. There are many to choose from. Pick a project that interests you and make meaningful contributions.

Then, you can show these contributions to potential employers to demonstrate your knowledge, expertise, and value in the area.

Hi BitcoinTalk community,
I'm a developer, looking to actively participate in the crypto space in 2025. After following the industry for 3 years, I want to move from observer to participant. While I don't have investment capital, I do have technical skills and time to invest.
I'm looking for guidance on:
Opportunities for developers to earn in the crypto space.
Areas which are most in demand and best compensated
Potential paths to build a career in crypto development
Ways to leverage technical skills for generating value/income in the ecosystem

I'm open to all suggestions - whether it's about financial opportunities, knowledge acquisition, or building valuable connections in the space. My goal is to turn my technical skills into tangible benefits while contributing value to projects.
Would appreciate insights from those who've successfully navigated this path, especially other developers who started with mainly technical skills.
Thanks in advance!

You've been observing the forum or crypto space for 3 years now and I think it's a good start for you.Your skills can fetch you money as well,if you're conversant with the way the system works and that would be awesome for you to adapt and lay meaningful contributions to the forum.Just be realistic, intentional and consistent with your skills.

Hi. Im not going to give you any specific advice, but I will tell you what Ive learned from my own experience in this space.

Ive been in crypto for a while now.  Seen some crazy stuff - huge gains, painful losses and  made some good calls, made some bad ones too.  You cant predict this market, thats for sure.  But more than anything diving deep into this technology has been an education.  Now I understand blockchain and smart contracts way more than I did a few years ago.  Does that make me an expert? Heck no.  I still got lots to learn.  But if Ive gained one thing from my time in this wild west, its perspective.  Sure I want to make money, but Im also fascinated watching this technology take shape.  Where will it go next? How can I get involved? These are common questions that beginners often ask. But ultimately, only you can answer these questions for yourself.

Another important thing Ive learned is that crypto is not for everyone. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme. And it takes time, effort, and patience to succeed in this space. If you are still interested in getting involved, I would recommend learning as much as you can about the technology. There are a lot of resources available online, and there are also a number of communities where you can connect with other people who are interested in crypto. I would also recommend being realistic about your expectations. Start with something small and simple, and build your way up. This can generally be applied to anything we start for the first time.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you're looking for technical job (such as programmer) on blockchain/cryptocurrency field. Just like other field, you'll have hard time landing jobs without some related experience. But there are some program which help you to get knowledge or experience, such as https://brink.dev/programs.

I'm sorry to say but it's unfortunate to be an observer for the past three years without developing appropriate plan to kick-start your journey in this industry.

What do you actually develop and what have you observed in this past three years? To me, you appear like a slate without having anything to show yet..

Mind you, you may need to start engaging in the forum to build reputation and prove you're worthy of your claim as a developer and how good you are in technical skills. Trust me, if you are really good in what you do, clients will start looking for you.

However, I will like to first of all welcome you to bitcointalk, which happens to be the largest online community for all Bitcoin enthusiast all around the globe, and as such, there is a special board on this forum where you could find developers like you and possibly engage in meaning discussion over there and here is a link to the board Development & technical discussion, and likewise we also have another board on this forum where you can over your services and get paid, and here is the link Services.

Hence, I will advise you that the only way you can make money on this forum (i.e by offering a Service or joining Signature Campaign) is by building a reputation, and the only way you can do that is by engaging in meaning discussion. Thank you, as I wish you the best.
