He actually got his coins back gor those that do not know about it.

I sent him a helpful message

I tried wallet recovery service because I was not smart enough to remember my password. The person I talk to was Dave and he crack the password and retrieve my coins. Everything turns out ok. He is not a scammer. Thanks Dave.

That's great.  Smiley
It would better to really careful on "first" password submit.

Sometimes typos can happen.

I was also afraid after seeing this topic. I am also using blockchain and just remembered how the password system works there.. Luckily i have set password which is eassy to remember for me. I will not change it as they will notify if somebody even knows my identifier and i will not give permission.  Cool

We cannot change first password on blockchain.info
They already give caution to "Save" Mnemonic in secure place, or maybe write it in your book.

I hope you can keep try to remember what is your password. (All saved passwords)

And also you can seek new probabilty typos that can be saved as your "password".

Ex: your password is: P@s5W0rD

if you sure your password is above.
Then keep trying to seek new probabilty for your login.

maybe you make some typos when you make symbols (you press shift, but actually you are not)
so your probabilty is: P2s5W0rD

Don't give up to find your mnemonic.
Best Regards.

And i think you better not lock this topic. There are a lot people who can help you in this BTT forum.

I don't want to sound harsh but it's not the fault of blockchain.
They can't reset your password because there is no other way except recovering through mnemonic phase..
i also have wallet on my phone you can always check your mnomonic phase under settings but blockchain team does not have access to your account ao unfortunately they can't help you...All you can do now is try to remember the password and just wish you hit the right one..
Wish you good luck Smiley

They can't recover or reset a password. Its about security. Bitcoin wallets are very secure, but you need to secure the recovery words.

can you explain me then why the support told me ¨If i tell them my PASSWORD´ they can find back my identifer to login?

Because they use a one-way function to store your password

I don't believe they ever see your password. It's all generated on your side. If you tell them the password I guess they can run it through their system and see what pops up.

Now... maybe the password didn't change and your keyboard did.
Maybe you were with caps lock on.
Maybe you were / or are now on German, French or I-don't-know-what other keyboard layout.
One z instead of y and your password will obviously not work.

Also, wait for some time. Maybe it's not the password you think it was and maybe you'll remember.
As the others stated, the only one that can help you is yourself. Good luck!

It's gone man. I'll get over it. Thanks for the help. You can lock this if you like.

That's a very good point being made there. Phone keyboards really aren't easy to use or very dependable. I often fail to log in with very simple passwords. Gotta be worth trying again on a proper computer and see what happens.

whant to know something fUnny?

the support told me once they can find my identifer if i tell them my password

Sorry to hear about your loss.  They're not lying that they could find the identifier, as most likely they could search accounts by the encrypted version of the password if you have it.  Without that nobody will be able to find the coins even if they wanted to.  It's hard to say to chalk it up to a learning experience with an amount like this, but that's really the only way to look at it.

You may be lucky and be able to use this security hole to find it, depending on the format of your password.  One of the few times you don't want to have a complex one o.o

This is the address the bitcoins are sitting, rotting and collecting dust. Hopefully, in 20-30 years someone will retrieve it and remember my name. =)

Without a private key, nobody can retrieve them.
And I think that the private key is encrypted with your password and cannot be decrypted without your password.

Unfortunately they're very emphatic about being unable to help you if you lose your password. The mnemonic is usually supplied when you open the wallet before you enter it.

Odd that it didn't show up and odd that it didn't recognise your password if you didn't change it. Did you log in and out quite regularly without issues?

When I created my wallet, I didn't get a mnemonic phrase, just an email confirmation. I just can't log in anymore, password has been change. I dont know.....

If your money would be stolen, first thing a thief would do is is to move the money away. Which didn't happen.
Your wallet is surely not lost on blockchain info. So you "only" have to remember your password.

Now... maybe the password didn't change and your keyboard did.

...and everyone else just got a little richer.

Out of all the nonsense people post about bitcoin, this is my favorite.

It does pop up like clockwork but then again it did come from Satoshi. Still not very accurate though. As everyone on here is now richer maybe we should all reimburse the OP and call it equal.

I too have lost BTC due to being dumb (inattentive).  That almost seems to be a requirement, that you have to lose something by not paying attention or being scammed.

If you want to donate for my reimbursement here is the address. It is 1:13AM losing sleep over this. lol

Haha exactly! Also how could someone have heart to say something like that to a person in a moment like this?

To the OP, sorry for your loss dude. I am surprised you would receive such a huge amount of coins to the online wallet. I don't know am I paranoid, but I would never do it.

I don't think they can help you recover password. Their system is designed in such a way. That's why you got mnemonic password or at least you should have gotten it.

Sorry for your loss once again!

Whoa that's bad timing dude. I never use blockchain, too many weird stories like your's
Why would you have such a large transaction sent there any way?
Not trying to be mean and rub it in but why would you pass such a large transaction through an online wallet? Just curious. It would be just as simple to go through a well secured multi bit even

I trust no online wallets. Not for more than 0.5 btc which is even pushing it. Micro transactions only. If even.

Sorry about your loss there bud. Meditate and relax. Maybe you'll remember your password.

Unfortunately blockchain.info cannot help to recover your password. It is not that they don't care, but rather that they are incapable of helping you since that data is not stored on their servers.

Since the passwords should be the same, try changing a few characters that could be accidenally mistyped like captial letters and try to guess your password.

They don't lie when they tell you, they can't. Certainly they can't as they only have your encrypted data. Encrypted by your password. Next time make sure you can re login into a created account before actually send money to it and also to backup your private keys.

They don't remember or recover passwords for your own security. It is not possible for them to steal your bitcoins because of that. Try your best to remember what your password is otherwise you just flushed that money down the toilet.

As you can see here , when you try to make a new wallet the warning is pretty clear : https://blockchain.info/wallet/new
Quote
Don't Forget Your Password!
WARNING: Forgotten passwords are UNRECOVERABLE and will results in LOSS of ALL of your bitcoins!

Anyone of us can get the adress email of another person registered on BLockchain.info and then claim that he forgot the password (I'am not saying that you are lying) but this is how it works . There is nothing you could do about it ... So yes you lost your bitcoins .
People should learn to not store their bitcoins on online wallets and start using Desktop/Paper/Hardware wallets , till then .. people will continue to lose their BTC.

I've been trying to communicate with blockchain.info to recover my password. I created a wallet from my phone and they did not give me a mnemonic phrases so I asked them to send it to me but I get the same messsage that they cannot help me recover my password. I am about to lose $3600 and these people don't care. =( here is my conversation with them. I know for a fact they can give me back my coins but they don't want to. *sigh*

Hello,

I'm sorry for bothering you with this subject. I created a wallet on my phone using this email address ([email protected]). Today, when I was expecting a transaction $3800 USD from someone, I accidently hit the log off button and when I try logging back on, it says please check your password is correct. I didn't change my password or anything. Can you please secure my account and return the money to me? I will give you the bitcoin address where that wallet is located:

17GzggSb2t1MrALnrksoposVq3GXEh4zwa

Please help me retrieve my funds ASAP. Thank you.

I can tell you there are 2 incoming transactions, one on the 24th of sept and one today which is 10/6 in that wallet.

There are four wallet identifier associated with the email address [email protected] that have been created in the last month. Your wallet identifiers are as follows;

https://blockchain.info/wallet/657190eb-bcee-43d9-9b25-e2941fb5ef4a

https://blockchain.info/wallet/29ce0c1c-fa9c-4317-ae4a-0084568cbb45

https://blockchain.info/wallet/a35d950a-1e4e-4dbc-9515-db6f161b16d7

Unfortunately we are unable to help recover lost passwords. Even if we wanted to it is impossible for us to reset a wallet's password, and this is due to the way encryption works. Please try every possible password combination you may have used. If you have your mnemonic phrase, then you can recover your password - https://blockchain.info/wallet/forgot-password?guid=.

You can read up more on how a Blockchain.info wallet works - https://blockchain.info/wallet/how-it-works.
