To answer your "how long should I wait" question,
in 2013 it used to be "about one hour"
in 2015, for feeless pool to miner transactions, I put through three at the same time which took 10 mins, 1/2 hour and six hours, and arrived in a different order to what I sent them in.
So after checking that you didn't leave off the end character in copy-paste of your wallet address, nor the comparable blunders, I'd give it a rest and see if your 0.005 BTC is through in the morning.

Because my miner is a lot smaller than yours, I mostly mine altcoins these days, for which the output is more immediate and visible.

Whilst that ought to have gone through by now, lets check if it has.
Open another browser tab and go to https://blockchain.info/
Halfway down on the right is a "search" section with a white "search" box.  Copy&Paste in your receiving bitcoin address; the one which you'd told the pool to send to.
Clicking the blue "search" button will return a list of all known transactions to or from that bitcoin address, which is meant to include one for that 0.005BTC which you mentioned.
Does the blockchain.info know about your transaction yet ?

Its fair of you to ask.

I postulate that you could be using an older miner type like mine, whose hashrate is a bit low by 2016 standards, so whose output after one day would be a rather small BTC quantity, well below the sensible transaction fee to run the bitcoin network at $5 per transaction.  Then a mining pool might send off small outbound payments without transaction fee, which for the small ones take an unpredictably long time to get through.  That worked fine last year, but as bitcoin becomes bigger, nil fee transactions won't work forever.

I can't go from a postulate to a recommendation without knowing whether the BTC quantity was small enough for that to be the problem, and I thought it rude to ask you how much BTC you made today.

DON'T PANIC
What is the hashrate ( Ghash/s often indicated as "Gh" ) ?
- as advertised for the type of miner which you use
- as indicated locally by your miner software
- as indicated as received for your username.workername at your mining pool account
Don't worry if you don't know how to get to all these health indications.
As an example, today I was using a Bitmain Antminer S1 underclocked to decrease power consumption and showing about 110 Ghash/s received at the pool.
