While I agree and understand your first statement, I think someone is really playing games. Next adjustment is coming and if you look at the graphs its been looking like someone has been shutting down leading up to the last few adjustments. I have a suspicion someone started up and shutdown until the adjustment passes.   Or maybe BFL* is about to ship another large batch.

*Big Fucking Liars.  .. couldn't help it...

200 TH swing?!?!?!?!?! no way that is just luck. If it is, i've never seen such insane luck. Am I the only one seeing this!?

ASIC Miner is only down 30 TH(half there latest total power). I say only, only because the total network swing was 200 TH.

Metabank delivered first units to customers two or three days ago,
starter- and full-kits from bitfurystrikesback august orders are on their way, some already received.
Dave is testing equipment as a reseller in America plus ramping up the 100TH 200TH mine.

 There ya go Wink

I had predicted 1PH on the network by today when I was looking at all the different companies and their claims a bit over a month ago.  If this 800TH is not just a spike, it looks like I'd have been on the low side if Avalon had actually shipped.

Didn't Alydian order 1 million 5 GH/s chips that are now being deployed?:

Correct if you have arguments on the contrary please. I am very interested in comments on this.

I had just noticed this as well.  Over the last 3 days the estimated hash rate has gone from 550 TH/s to 800 TH/s according to Blockchain.info.

For those that have pre-ordered gear due in two months, this is not a promising development.

If I was turning on a huge mining platform... wouldn't it be best to do it right at a difficulty reset to get the maximum length of time at a given difficulty?  By starting it up in the middle of a difficulty, it'll cause the next reset to go a lot higher.

Normally, I'm a big skeptic of any claim that "Someone just turned on a huge mining rig!". Most reports are just a simple case of normal network growth, plus some variance swings.

That said, this does seem to be a very sharp increase in hashrate over the past few days. I don't know who, but someone just got a ton of hardware turned on.

7 blocks in 12 minutes. something's not right. maybe bitfury should wait a while before being the elephant on the network

i have an order with them, so i dont want them to wait :p

bitfury europe units are arriving, the 200TH mine is quickly ramping up to spec, and the north american bitfury is in assembly/testing phase (another pile of TH)

It looks like Dave got his hardware and is shipping out the BitFury devices, maybe his 200 TH/s mine is going up simultaneously too?

Crazy. Everyday I look at btcguild.com has rate and it has been going up daily like 10-20TH.

Global Hashrate is an estimate based on pace of blocks solved for the current difficulty.  If they use different algorithms they will get different results.  While not real-time, the difficulty is a better measure as all the nodes agree on it.  I personally am a fan of the http://allchains.info estimated difficulty.
34 blocks in just over 2 hours, that's like 4 min per block.  We either had a lot of lucky people or there's some new game in town.

I just looked at blockchain.info and they show a current level of 761,549.60 GH/s.  https://ghash.io/ is only showing 115TH, did another company get something online today?
