The part I don't get about these types of situations is why bother to refund anything?  It's not like he can ever run another groupbuy with that ID.  Once you got away with it what's the thinking behind returning anything to people you just got over on?

Because, of course, these scammers are hoping to buy some time to get away with it.

If you feel you've been scammed, you'll go after the scammer immediately... but if the scammer tries to say, 'oh, I'll pay it back!' and gives some 'proof' that they're willing to give it back, by giving people a small percentage of their money, gullible people will believe this story is possibly true, because just 'waiting' for money is a lot easier than trying to persue the person.

The scammers then have some time to either (a) hope most people forget about it months later (b) change IP addresses by changing hosting providers, or some other way of hiding.

It's such a common scheme, I really don't understand why so many people fall for it - must be their first time seeing this type of scheme.

And who in the world, once robbed, and in the hospital needing money to pay bills and lost wages at work would instead of thinking of himself, refund money to people he doesn't know on the internet. Money he doesn't have. He should write about being concerned about finding who the people are that beat him up / stole something. Plus, who in the world steals bitcoins by beating someone up? It's ridiculous.

So his group buy is closed with this message.  Does anyone believe this?  Did we just get scammed?  I lost BTC2.

EDIT:

This is mrugala wife. My husband asked me to inform you as soon as possible. He is currently in hospital due to his meeting with one of the client... What the client did is robbed his of his wallet and password with 2 other guys. We tried reporting it to police but they said that they don't deal with "Guild Wars or World of Warcraft gold is not withing our reach, please talk with Bitcoin developer". We should get some money from the indemnity.

Please PM us address on which You would like Your refund. There will be 105% refunds of what You send. Please be patient our rig earns 1 BTC a month and my husbands salary is also about 1 BTC per month, and I have some on my wallet - it will take up to 3-4 months to refund to everyone. We will start refunds from people who invested the most. Once again we are sorry. I closed the thread because I don't want to read bad things about my man. This is a tragedy for us all, but I think that hits us the most, please understand...

I haven't forgotten either and still hope I get fully refunded but really this type of situation is impossible to make people whole again. The cold truth is that the coin is worth less than half what it was when this started plus none of us were ever able to mine anything with this lost coin (lest we forget that was the whole point in the beginning).
Best of luck to all going forward. Mrugala I hope you are well.

Any updates on when we will get refunded back some of the BTC that were stolen from us err stolen from you when you got 'stabbed'

I should have funds to do second refund wave by the end of april. The loan I took for first wave is already paid back. Will keep You posted if anything changes.

Well it isn't concluded so I don't think we can say either way right now.
He sent out some refunds...has more to send but said it was going to take a few months.

I am trying to remain optimistic.

Hello.. At the moment my earnings are used to pay off the loan I took to do first refund wave. My monthly earnings are 450 USD/ month + my 4card RIG, and I really can't afford to do it so fast.. I am here almost every day on forum to answer Your questions and update, but as I said I do not have such funds.. I am sorry. You will get Your btc, as I said here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5085739

So what you are saying is this?

"I scammed you guys for the equivalent of 3 years of my salary and I can somehow pay you back in 3 months."  Can you clear up that fuzzy math for me?

It is a great pleasure for me to explain basic reading, deduction and math techniques to You.

Here is some math+deduction

0.5 month for fist wave
+2-3 months for second
+1 for third
= 3.5/4.5 months

Here is some reading:

Quote
+ my 4card RIG
, please do read carefully next time. Some people have friends and family aswell. Your arrogance towards me is not helping at all. Call me whatever You wan't, You seem to ignore the facts explaining what happened which I provided to You, but You cannot deny the fact that I already started refunding, and I am willing to finish it.

why you say german poster? mrugala admitted in previous post that he himself created this fake german account with fake 20 orders and fake insults.

from krakow newspaper as quoted by mrogula:

"This afternoon, around 15:10 hours in the Loop in Mistrzejowice in Krakow tram No 14 boarded two men. They approached the 18-year-old Karola N. and dragged him out of the tram. There was a struggle, during which the boy was stabbed twice. The bandits fled, taking his black briefcase."

So from this we know his name is Karola N.
but I dont believe this is mrugala, it looks like he posted a link from someone else and further all this reminds me on a nigerian scam.

I said german poster because mrogula admitted that he was the german poster, just like he is the post above my A B C comments.  That dude wasn't even in the group buy and they log on/off at the same times.  It was meant to be sarcastic.

Just got 0.22BTC refund from him.
I think if he was a scammer i would just never come back to the forum to partialy refund us.

A.) You weren't even on the list.

B.) Your second post ever was to post about getting a refund in a group buy?

C.) Your first post wasn't even in the Group Buy thread.

Another german poster?

mrugala says of being stabbed in Krakow Poland and post link to newspaper, says 18year old went to hospital, he said his wife posted for him, i am surprised he is married so young or maybe this newspaper report is not him but someone else?

I was almost 100% sure someone will point that out. You can have sex legally here since 16. I am not going to discuss my private life decisions, nor the age people should marry, but trust me, You do strange things when You are in love.

I posted this in my thread but mrugala asked me to post in here as well.  I have been sent back .2BTC and he wants to know how much more he owes me.

I think as of right now we have to take this man at his word.  I see a few other posts in this thread that look similar to mine.

I wrote already he is very good at psychology, so he basically just made you to defend him for small payment. Unless he returns all of the money he remains a scammer. Maybe he already purchased some cards from stolen money and will send partial payments for a while so he considers it as a loan.
I doubt I will ever see a cent from him.

We kindly asked everyone to PM their refund address. You did not send anything, how should I know where should I refund?
Also, I am about to make a post explaining the whole situation. And I ask again for Your refund address. Could You be so kind and provide me it?

Totally agree.  I'm not defending him I am simply trying to state facts and be as objective as as possible for someone who who put up $1k and then found himself to be in the situation that we are in.

Another .15BTC was just sent to me so AORN I am -1.03 + .35 = -.68

There are so many con artists on here it seems like a natural reaction even if the seller's story is %100 true because people are so jaded (myself included).

Sickness or not, where are the funds from the group buy? If they are sitting safe, what not a full refund ASAP? If these funds were used for any other purpose, no matter the circumstances, that is FRAUD.

What we are being told is that he met someone in person and he was beaten and robbed and as a result the BTC from the groupbuy was taken (that's why he is going the refund route instead of just sending the cards).  He will now payback those who are entitled but he has to do it out of his own pocket and that will take several months.

I agree it is a rather fantastic tale and I can't verify it or dismiss it out of hand.  I did receive a small amount back and am being told the rest will follow.  Right now that is all that I know.

I honestly hope so for you investors but this has been seen before. Wrecks, hit by cars, trucks, flying trout. And some do pay back in fractions, string it out, keep your hopes alive then vanish.

Hello, I am back. For some reason I cannot post from previous account.

This is mrugala's wife's third cousin, twice removed, here to report bad news. While mrugala is in the hospital recovering from his massive wounds, his wife has been stricken with Pica-Blaschko-Elephantiasis, a disease common in our family going way back. In fact, I have it, but currently in remission.

Needless to say, money is now a major concern for them and their seven children, not to mention the stay dogs they feed to save them from being on the menu at the local South Korean restaurant.

I have been instructed on how to have a Bitcoin mining wallet address by both of them prior to them being injected with morphine to ease their pain. Ergo, I'm now conducting a Group-Alm to amass precious bitcoins to help pay for both their hospital bills because neither one of them have insurance. The bill must be paid in full for them to be released from the ward after they heal, thus time is of the essence so that all those affected via mrugala's group buy will be repaid more faster.

Apologies for any grammatical errors in this post, but English is not my best subject.

Sincerely,

mrugala's wife's third cousin, twice removed

And that is why we decided to close the thread. I just hope that nothing like this would happen to You. Really.

Please be patient our rig earns 1 BTC a month and my husbands salary is also about 1 BTC per month, and I have some on my wallet - it will take up to 3-4 months to refund to everyone. We will start refunds from people who invested the most. Once again we are sorry.

For the people complaining - please do explain what here is unclear to You. We have fully refunded the person who bought 5 cards, and next in line was M..r - 4. We are considering that method to be not fair, and change the refunds to be to everyone, but some %, in waves. Let us know what You think about that in PM please. We were planing another wave of refunds in about 3 weeks - yes, it isn't easy to get even 2.0 BTC per month in postcommunist country.. But when we saw the flustration we decided to take a loan to fasten the 2nd refund wave, but it would prolong 3th wave, since we would have to get rid of the loan. 3rd wave should be in 2-3 months, and 4th wave (final one) will be in 4months, Please be patient - You will get it back. Once again we apologize, last days were really tough for us.

Will update this post on progress.

Partialy(30-60%) refunded 5 another clients, thank You and sorry for trouble!
Please confirm.

Only 23/45 cards sold afterall. If I was about to scam, I wouldn't decline offers from people when auction ended. Ask Powell for example, he wanted 5 cards, but it was already too late. I would have took his BTC if I wanted to scam.

Does your warning include Newbies that start the now largest group buy co-op after being on this forum for ONLY two weeks?

If so, does your warning include said above if a warehouse/datacenter is claimed to be purchased, but later changed to being only a month-to-month lease, then moved to a new location, then moved again, recently now at some unknown location in a different state?

Also, what if all parties vetted each other, does the warning still apply?

I know, it's a reach, and this post may come across as being penned by a troll living in his mommy's van down by the river, but pretend it's true, and enlighten me. Meanwhile, I'll go and refill my quiver while I await your kind reply.

~TMIBTCITW

My warning was in mrugala's initial group buy thread, back when his account was only 3 weeks old. Apparently people only like doing business with brand new disposable accounts.

My question is did the first group buy actually take place?

I was under the impression that it did, but then again I'm a stupid noobie because apparently it didn't.

My warning was in mrugala's initial group buy thread, back when his account was only 3 weeks old. Apparently people only like doing business with brand new disposable accounts.

My question is did the first group buy actually take place?

And yup, you got scammed. Flagged all of his accounts that were obvious, but in the future please don't do business with new users.

I'd advise anybody to avoid taking part of a group buy orchestrated by a brand new user. These have historically resulted in disaster for everybody except for the group buy organizer.

Will work for BitCoins
