why so many threads about ripple all of a sudden? What did I miss? Ripple was around for like year now and I didn't see this kind of activity for a long time...

Its value has spiked, and no one knows why. Massive speculation.

False information about Ripple began circulating, and members of the Ripple community have taken this an opportunity to dispel FUD and help inform. cesckat above, as a quick example, links to an outdated post from 2013 claiming that Ripple is not open source as its 1st point. Demonstrably false.

A hilarious bit is that many of those accused of being Ripple shills are not actively promoting investment in XRP, and some even discouraging it.

All of the back and forth has led to redundant threads that are staying near the top of page 1 in this forum.

lol centralized everything in ripple.

Why would you think the price moving was not based on some central force? Say the premiers pumping up their shitcoin? Grin Grin Grin
Cheesy Cheesy exactly!

As well, some months ago people started interesting topics in the forum to about Ripple, centralization...: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ripple-scam-centralized-centrally-issued-bribes-exchanges-closed-source-tax-147789

Very interesting.

Simply took advantage of the free promotional giveaway when it came out. 35000 XRP free gratis and for nothing. So, technically, I'm not "invested" but I like what I see so far, and the more I read about XRP's utility, the more I like it. It is not in competition with BTC. Please don't feel threatened guys.

Can you post a link to the 35000 XRP giveaway? It was before my time and I would like a look at the thread.

I will have to search... I don't think the giveaway is available anymore... The platform they have is way different (same XRP- very different UI)
You could look in their main thread, it would be near the beginning but if it is no longer on I would guess they deleted it.
Try ripple trade. It's thier new website/wallet/exchange. If there's a newbie giveaway it would be there. Good luck... I'm sitting in nearly 800$ worth of free XRP right now... Feels like 2012

I don't think everyone here would be comfortable disclosing this information.
Anyway, seems like Ripple have got quite a way to go before initial investors make some nice profit.

Did neither, although I think it's an interesting and innovative technology. I might buy some XRP to hold onto and use if I ever decide to use Ripple for payments someday (perhaps if/when it becomes widespread).

Here is how it works.. post post post post

Post anything you can about and faggy shit coin and even better if you can play dumb and ask questions etc
AKA: providing a platform / soapbox for the shit coin in question.

Do you mean invest in ripple labs or buy XRP? I guess a lot more people brought XRP than invested in ripple labs.
