These two projects may be similar. But they are fundamentally different. There is no obstacle for them to be the same. For example, there is a similarity between Ethereum and many coins. EOS, TRX, NEO, XLM, RVN, ADA ... But on the basis of all of them have different sides.

Is this really the case? I was always under the impression that out of the tokenized security platforms, the biggest 2 were Polymath and Ravencoin, and they where always competition.

They both want to create platforms that makes it able for any business to release their own tokenized security, so it seems like a pretty obvious competition, while ETH is more focused on non-business related stuff, if that makes sense.

You get it wrong. The comparison above is based on Ethereum blockchain(0x) and Ravencoin blockchain. We are not talking about another blockchain in here, he is comparing 0x that is using Ethereum blockchain with Ravencoin with its own blockchain. 0x is a protocol in Ethereum blockchain, which means the real competitor of Ravencoin in the transfer of assets is not 0x but Ethereum because 0x is using Ethereum blockchain.

Both are different. Where 0x serves as a medium for exchanging ERC20 tokens in the Ethereum network. Mainly used on DEX.
Whereas RVN is more focused on transferring assets and tokenized assets, which means you can turn your real-world assets into digital assets through their network. That's what I understand so far. CMIIW

so they are indeed competitors, right?
doesn't matter if it's an ethereum token or a entirely new blockchain.
The real competitor of Ravencoin is ETH, not 0x.

exchange of assets = transfer of assets !?!?

The exchange of assets is not the same as transfer of assets.
Transfer of assets is sending or receiving the payment, you are making a one-way transaction while in Exchange of assets you are making two ways of transactions, you send your asset to them and at the same time they are sending their asset to you.

Just like Barter if you ever heard it.

0x is an open protocol that is designed to offer a decentralized exchange as part of the Ethereum blockchain. 0x is made using a protocol that involves Ethereum smart contacts that allow those around the world to run a decentralized exchange. The team behind 0x strongly believes that in the future, you will find thousands of tokens from Ethereum and that 0x can provide an efficient and trustworthy way to exchange them. 0x is designed to be different from both centralized and decentralized exchanges, providing the best possible combination of features

Ravencoin is a blockchain specifically dedicated to the creation and peer-to-peer transfer of assets. Just as Monero is solely focused on privacy, Ravencoin specializes in asset transfer – nothing more, nothing less.

Both are not competitors and you have understood it wrong. 0x if focused to built a protocol which can't be considered as a blockchain while raven is focusing to build an anonymous payment system through use the same tech that already used by monero. Please, you must understand what means of protocol and blockchain.

Hi there,

still a noob, so to me, 0x (DEX protocol that allows the transfer of assets) looks very similar to Ravencoin (tokenized assets), but they are never mentioned as each others' competitor. Why? Can anyone explain to me what I'm missing?

Thanks, Ralf

Two of the main differences to me personally would be:
The backing: Rvn was founded by the CEO of Overstock, and is managed by a team of his actively
The chain: it says alot about devs that manage their own chain, rvn has its own, while Ox relies on ETHs

No, 0x is focused on the exchange of assets while Ravencoin is the transfer of assets.

0x runs in Ethereum Blockchain, have you ever heard Etherdelta before? Etherdelta is a decentralized exchange, 0x improves the exchange of assets(executing buy or sell/exchanging the assets).
On the other hand, Ravencoin enables the transfer of assets. What I mean here is transferring the assets from one wallet to another wallet.

The real competitor of Ravencoin is ETH, not 0x.

read this article for detailed information about the exchange of asset https://coincentral.com/0x-beginner-guide/

The difference is in their Blockchain, to sum it up.
0x protocol enables the peer-to-peer exchange of assets on Ethereum network while Ravencoin enables the peer-to-peer transfer of assets on their Blockchain.

i think the main difference is that 0x is an Ethreum token and raven coin is a coin that not using ethereum
