What's the difference between the network total hashrate at http://bitcoinwatch.com/ which reads 9.45thash

and

BitCoin Charts which has the total network hashrate @ 10.891 ?  http://bitcoincharts.com/

They are updated at different intervals.

http://bitcoin.sipa.be/ is excellent and updates with every block.

Hashrate is always estimated from the time between blocks.

This is the real answer

There is no hashrate variable to pull from the blockchain so it is calculated by the amount of time it solves blocks as a whole network...

However, I'm more interested in why they are reporting different #'s
