I have a few 6970s and some tracking numbers that won't let me sleep. I just came into town but yeah, I know that with this system I won't be doing much. Just made my first buck after 3 days, not good!

I notice 3 temp. readings. The highest one is the one showing on Afterburner and Trixx and the lowest one is the one showing on cgminer and Kombustor. What should be the guide to know wheat the temp of the card actually is?

93.0, 83.0, 93.5 and 91.5
I suspect that the GPU core temperature is the 1st one (93.0) and the other ones could be memory and the voltage regulator module.
If GPU-Z doesn't give any information beyond that and XFX themselves don't supply any additional software I'm afraid it won't be possible to find out with 100% certainty which reading is for which sensor.
Although these temperatures are a bit high (OK for the VRM and a bit high for GPU or VRAM for long-term use) they are still 'safe'. You won't make any profit with one HD 6770 anyway so unless you leave it mining 24/7 for many months I doubt anything should happen (although I guarantee nothing).

That's just weird that the temperature is so high then. I'm not overclocking, the desktop case is open on both sides and I have a fan (not a computer fan but a real fan) blowing at max directly into the board. The temperature shouldn't be that high!
What does GPU-Z show you under load?
What's your fan speed (in RPM)?
What are your clocks?
How much airflow is there / how is the GPU positioned?
For mining bitcoins you don't need a high VRAM clock so try to underclock it, though it can be a problem on the HD 6000 series.

Well, out of all the temperature reading software out there GPU-Z turned out to be the best for me for graphics cards.

It's on my signature but I should have stressed: it's just a single XFX 6770. Driver is not the most current on purpose, it's Catalyst 11.11 since the newer versions like 13.4 or 13.6 beta, 12.12 and a whole lot of other versions give you this "Verification failed. Ckech hardware!" message. I've seen tons of people with this problem and it happened to me to with this board.
It's weird that 2 programs show one exact temperature and 2 others show another same exact one. So what you're saying is that in doubt I should trust GPU-Z? Because it's aligning with Afterburner but not with cgminer (which is bad because it's showing the hotter temperature)

Try GPU-Z it can read from more sensors than most temperature reporting software.
The differences that you see between the programs you mention is either a) buggy software / your GPU is new and the software is not up to date or b) they read from different sensors.

Right now, cgminer and Kombustor show my GPU temp at 79C while Afterburner and Trixx show a temperature of 90C (then overclocking wouldn't be recommended). What's going on?
