I actually find it very interesting the way in which the difficulty is increasing. I believe in the future the difficulty will drop because it will get so hard its not worth it for people to mine, so a bunch will leave, and as a result, that will cause the difficulty to experience a significant drop.

Where can I download the blockchain?

You can download your wallet, and then when you have your wallet downloaded, it will start automatically downloading and syncing with the block chain, this is what I use.

Install the Bitcoin-Qt program from here:

http://bitcoin.org/en/download


It should download the blockchain for you.

I'm looking for difficulty over time data. Just checked http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=2345.0 but the link is dead.
