You can torrent it (or technically most of it).  Quite a few seeds so it has pretty good download speeds.

There are some direct download links but not sure how up to date they are:

Hey nice torrent link. It took me almost a week to get it done via the qt and if I had known about this earlier, it would have saved me a lot of time and effort. You can imagine my frustration having to go through all that initially.  Grin

Nowadays I keep a copy of the blockchain in my portable harddrive. Just about that day lent it to a friend of mine for him to setup the qt.

Bitcoin Blockchain Direct Download
Download the latest snapshot from our high-speed CDN:
http://bitcoin.network

They've spammed this link on several places - and are asking for a 0.05 BTC payment (~ $20 as of today!).  While I admire people who are providing a service, the price seems excessive.

What service are they providing exactly I havent clicked on the link but all im assming is they have uploaded the latest blockchain so the others can download? thats free to do that.

Their service seems ridiculous: Offering a download link. I can understand bandwidth, server costs etc, but the value they add seems very little.

Seems that is no longer updated from 2012 but posts are on it for newer torrents. One thing tho how do you import it after downloading and sticking the file in app data sections as am lost on that part says put in bitcoin app data folder and says it will import but am not seeing any of that with wallet.

Yeah download the torrent as that's the simple and fastest way otherwise you will be waiting to sync for hours on end maybe even days depending on your internet connection.

Torrent is the best way to go about it .Downloading more than 20 GB directly, without a good speed becomes burdensome.

Is there any chance I can download blockchain directly from FTP/HTTP? My problem is I had to switch back to Satoshi's client and now I have to wait until all the blocks are synchronized and it's taking so freaking long...

I tried to google it but probably used irrelevant keywords. The kick in the right place is all i need... Smiley
