Does anyone know how to reach the folks at directbet?
I had a long dated wager on the Houston Astros to win the World Series (Major League Baseball).
I heard they were honoring all outstanding bets, but I don't know how to get in touch with them to get this bet settled.
The website is gone, the email addresses bounce, and they have not been active on the forum since August.

well they said in one pot that directbet.eu was not for sale, so that means they will probably come back.
I know they had some problems in some games, because it happened while I was participating in their tipster championship, so maybe they decided to stop for a while, fix things, create some new features that could interfere with their actual service, and then just come back even better than they already were. Don't know if dealing with BTC price is hard for sportsbookers as well, but since the others are still in business I don't think the price had anything to do with it.
If seen from their main threads, they do not lock or change the title of the thread to be closed or anything. They're just locking the game's thread prediction score, I think also directbet closes its site not because of the rising bitcoin price and that's not a reason that is acceptable to a great site like directbet. Maybe they just need a long enough time to vacation and refresh themselves and I'm sure they'll come back with a big surprise. From their quote they are clear on their stand and focus on different services. If they have the plan of coming back to the service they might have not stopped it. They might have started the different services in a parallel manner because this was running in a perfect manner. I believe the closure might have happened because of pressure from government.

,what they said is that the admin wants to pursue other dreams and he wants to focus his attention to other ventures and if someone feels like he wants to do something else,so be it,despite that it is hard to see the site close too soon. Maybe they decided to cash out their bitcoins & crypto when prices rose higher than $2k btc?

It is quite possible that they wanted to take advantage of the current price and want to make a good profit out of the price of bitcoin rather than the profit earned through running the site,not only bitcoin but all of the alt coin had a good rally and the profit they will be havin selling off the coins will be much larger ,just my assumption. That could explain the massive sell off and price decrease. Especially if many others decided to do something similar at the same time.

Fees are really high to an average. There are lots of daily payment settlements in Directbet everyday that if you will sum up all the transactions fees, it is relatively high. Some regulations will solve the problem about their automatic payouts but too late to think of that since they are already close.

Directbet has left us all and we are going to miss them greatly. I wish they can reorganize and come back at least by allowing us to open an online wallet with the coins we've allocated to gamble so that we will withdraw like the fiat sportsbooks. I am very upset to see such a great and unique site closing. As far as I know this was the only betting site where you don't had to deposit anything and directly bet(hence the name). Ot was my go to website for betting, because of the obvious reason I didn't like depositing anywhere and then spend rather this direct betting on a match is much easier. It is really surprising and I don't think they will ever reveal the reason behind this decision they have made. May be it is something big that they can't/don't want to share with public. I can't find any reason for one of the biggest bitcoin sportsbook closing in this way.

I just wonder there could be any legal obligation which made them close it , as in term of profits there was no problem and they were making good profits.

Yes and the reason is not the high price of bitcoins because if such was the reason, they could well have withdrawn the bitcoins and pay users through buying bitcoins all the time, the most annoying thing is that they haven't even gave a slight chance of some new site or service coming. Just closed it, the good thing is they haven't scammed anyone even when their exit was near. A lot of sites end on a scamming note since they feel that's the best. I had some funds in the casino wallet, withdrawn them without any issues.

For me they closed for two reasons. One is that they took a big hit or several big hits lately as all soccer games are coming like predicted in these last days or Two they are closing because they have won enough bitcoins to not bother anymore with the site and start enjoying their different lifestyle. It is a sad event for the bitcoin gambling community knowing how easy was to bet at the site without the need to have an account.

What a surprised!!! Directbet.eu is one of the trusted sites as far as sports bet is concern. I don't think it has to do with the high transaction fee's. They have been in the business for quite some time now so I think they know about the issue with the fees. I don't know what to speculate, we just have to wait if they are going online again with other alts as options for betting.
This is a huge set back for sports fans as this is the only site that accepts alt coins for sports betting and i really could not believe that they are closing the doors all of a sudden,what about the future bets we already waged ,will they be returning the coins,what is the real reason for the closure,really sad to see a sports book closing their doors,i think the main reason would be the increase in price for all the alt coins.

This is indeed a black day and bad news for all the gamblers. Directbet was one of the trusted and mine favorite site to bet on. There sports betting features were marvelous and i will really miss them.
I just wonder there could be any legal obligation which made them close it , as in term of profits there was no problem and they were making good profits.

IMHO, The high fee for a transaction is the main reason why decided to close their website. Today's transaction is very expensive and directbet are really affected by it because they send tons of transaction without any charges to the receiver and they're no account features make this issue bigger to them.
I think the fees aren't a problem for directbet because their lines are so juiced compared to other bookies.i don't know what exactly , and they choose to reveal publicly about the clear and real reason why , just let's respect them have been in bitcoin community for years.

If that was the case, they could have just started charging for the bets. That should fix almost all the things. A lot of other merchant bitcoin sites which used to offer free withdrawals started charging too. Even other gambling websites started charging. I don't think that can be the main reason if the whole venture was profitable for them.
Let's just what will be their action regarding this, I'm hoping that their decision of closing their site is just for temporary because they still allowed their site to run for a few days. And their announcement is unexpected. I still don't find another betting site that can replace them.

I thought this was a hoax until i accessed the site a while ago which is displaying this same message. I read some red flags yesterday when someone on this forum complained that his payout was not given. He won on a bet but his payout was pending. When he inquired, he was informed that he did a double spend and therefore could not withdraw the payout. The same day, I placed a bet for two matches with odds totaling 52. When I transferred 0.01 btc, the bet was rejected and the bitcoins send to my btc address. From this, I now know that they might have been facing problems.
