I agree with the above replies.  The problem here has little to do with noobs being able to block PMs, and more to do with keeping safe in the first place.

Having said that, there probably should be a hell of a lot more restrictions on noobs. Like having signatures and avatars and such.  But that's another thread entirely.

They should not even have the ability to lock or self moderate their threads.

Locking threads is necessary no matter what rank you are.

Self moderated threads could definitely use some tightening on the rules though. Maybe even full members or above? The problem is that hacked accounts use these threads to take out loans so rank becomes irrelevant. I don't really see the need for self moderated threads ever. For every legitimate case there are 9 illegitimate cases.

Blocking PMs though? Who cares. They're using a newbie throwaway account with a throwaway email address. You sending them 50 PMs a day won't get your money back.

I don't think new user should be allowed to block other users from sending them PM. I do have faced this issue recently one of them blocked me after I made the payment.

You're already a senior member, still making a mistake of not sending funds to newbies or not escrowing the fund?
we have been warned hundred times not to deal or send first to newbie account, because they have nothing to lose ..

I second this suggestion.Self moderated threads should not be allowed for newbies and even for members as they are used to delete other members views if they are against the op.What is the need of self moderation when this forum already has moderators who are doing good job and then there is a report feature to bring any objectionable posts to staff's notice?

Exactly. They should not be allowed to self moderate their own threads.
New users are now into abusive usage of this feature.

I think the only solution that can solve this problem is to ban idiots to this forum. We should have mandatory IQ exam upon registration.

Yeah, I know. But still what I think is there must be some limitations to new users.

There are limitations.  No one trades with them without escrow.   Undecided

1.Why would you deal with a newbie user without an escrow in the first place ?

2.Why would you use bitcointalk's message system as the primary means of communication involving a trade ?

3.You cannot change the system for something you had been not careful enough.

Yeah, I know. But still what I think is there must be some limitations to new users.

What would it matter if they couldn't? They would just ignore your messages. A better solution would not be to send Newbies money without escrow.
