This has to be a joke. It's as inane as making claims about the usefulness of copper because gold is costlier, wut?!
Yes if they are claiming their copper is better than gold Cheesy

I wonder if you even read what you post or if it's just kneejerk reactions all the way down.

Airdrops are nothing but a group of scammers ...

When I corrected you that not all airdrops are created equal you doubled down on the inanity with:

Airdrops are nothing but a group of scammers angels trying to make us believe their tokens is endorsed by thousands of community members.

eBTC really hurt you, didn't it?

In your opinion, is there a difference between giveaways and airdrops?
I see none to very few differences. I vote for disallowing airdrops on Bitcointalk from now on.
what say you?
I think they don't have some differences to each others since they are freely given by the devs and all have to do by the people who join to that airdrop or giveaways is just to wait until it will be given to them the only thing that it's not good for both of them is that if devs will be scamming the people all of it or some wull not be given by such what they are waiting for. There are many of it right now here in forum bu be aware that not all of these are gonna be trusted because some turns out to be fake.

Airdrops are nothing but a group of scammers trying to make us believe their tokens is endorsed by thousands of community members, but if you read all the posts you will understand they're not really giving you any thing valuable, do you see ebtc was listed on exchange and there are buyers for it but they never gave people anything. they just lie with their alt shills, would you give tokens to me for nothing and then pay for them on exchange to buy them from me?  you should trash them all Cheesy

If your only experience with airdrops are those e-uselesscoins then I understand the ignorance. You should check out ByteBall here for one such example of an airdropped crypto that's as far away from being scammy as North is to South.

Byteball is dead in the water. Byteball is as useless as any of the other shitcoins. Its time has passed already, people have made their cash and it's time to move on  Grin
Word to the mother, brotha.  My sentiments exactly.  I'm ignorant of a lot of this, but I've seen Yobit's 1 satoshi crematorium and can't help but think that the final resting place for airplops is right there.  1 satoshi and sell walls longer than my d---.  Good luck with that plan for personal enrichment.  Has anyone actually made a decent amount by doing these?

With the previous distribution rates, several decent amounts were made. Even ICONOMI was involved in the airdrops and they sure made quite the amount. "Decent" would be too conservative a word to describe it:

We also closed approximately one third of our Byteball position, leading to a realised profit of 3,059 ETH.

Guys stop tossing me and my quote around, I'm not a quote wh*re Cheesy let me try again:

ICYMI, it's still as wrong as the first time you said it, sarcasm and all.

Quote
We call them currencies, you call them cryptocurrencies.

Wut?

Quote
Crypto doesn't mean free in any dictionary, Give people something for free, they'll ask themselves: If it's free then it should be free for everyone, Why would we want to pay money for something which we could get for free?

Uh, this is nonsense. That X doesn't mean free in the dictionary and that X people will be butthurt as to why they themselves didn't get it for free is irrelevant.

Quote
You want a decentralized currency? Go use bitcoin, Any of the airdrop coins offer something incredible and bitcoin doesn't have the same incredible thing to offer? Then why aren't they more valuable than bitcoin?

This has to be a joke. It's as inane as making claims about the usefulness of copper because gold is costlier, wut?!

Edit: After reading your post #13 and #15 here I see why you're so butthurt about airdrops - you never received your eBTC. ROTFLOL!

Actually, I think the airdrops where you own a certain coin/token are ok, the ones with 9999 spam asking to get in are quite annoying. Especially after the eXXXXX phase. I tried a couple of them, just a bunch of shills and thrills.

It is just free coins they want to distribute! yes it is just free coins and we can sure call it as a bonus, but let's look on the bright side and the negative side well the bright side would be many users are gonna be attract with Crypto because of this but in the negative side so is the users with multiple account that will surely put all of his account in every airdrop he can get, well it can be use by multi account users, but it is still a good thing to start with other coins.

When I saw that you were the latest poster I knew it would be another piece contrived nonsense like you usually spew in their ANN thread. Thank you for not disappointing.

When I saw that you are the latest poster after me I knew it was another piece of your painstakingly crafted bags of smelly nuisances that you love to throw around here snowflake  Grin

Ouch, looks like I struck a nerve. Gotta love that word salad though.

No, but I rarely go in the alt coin section due to all the nonsense in there, but mprep usually handles them. Not 100% sure on his policy of trashing threads but he does seem to if it's explicitly stated to do post in them. Check these threads for example though:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--2256260
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ecash-2256651

Neither state you have to post in them and one even says don't post your address or the thread will be trashed yet it is full of pointless spam like:

Joined airdrop....Good luck

Joined your airdrop.  THank you.

Which is just going to be a farmers paradise. As I'm sure you're aware it would be extremely time consuming to remove all those posts one by one and/or issue bans but they shouldn't be there and it's not exclusively the OPs fault either (unless they do state somewhere that you have to post something in the thread (which I have seen before)).

I'm so ignorant of airdrops that I wouldn't know how to get one if I had a gun to my head.   I assume they're just giveaways,  but I thought there was a little more to them.

They're just sign up or post an address and get paid in some pre-mined shitcoin giveaways and of course the scavenger sig spamming shitehawks swarm in for anything that is free.

In any case, I'm not against them per se, as long as they're done in a section I can block.   Right now I've got the whole altcoin section on ignore because of all the bullshit threads and I'm sick of hearing about them from 3rd world spammers.  But if they get banned, I'm cool with that too.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends whether the "airdrop" incentivizes people to spam and shill the coin, such as the case with the DeepOnion shitcoin.
Most do. Hence why you see threads full of 'joined bounty' or whatever. These should all be trashed but I think more stern restrictions should be put on all alt giveaways/campaigns etc. I'd rather people spammed their ANN threads than all over the forum to be honest soi not sure why we disallow one but allow the other.
If you don't want to completely disallow airdrops of all kinds, then at least start killing those that do the thing that you've just described. IMO these are calls that moderators themselves should be able to make without explicit approval from theymos, as the semantics can be argued trivially. This is due the difference between airdrops and giveaways often being very thin that the rules of the latter can be applied on the former. Have you talked to theymos about this already? What was his response?
