This reminds me of all those scholarships scams going around that want you to write a 1000 word essay just to win a $100 scholarship.

This would be a limited to the ones who are near your house and what if the location is pretty messed up.. IMO this is pointless no one would be interested.. really essay contest?
What's next? Gambling on my kid's grades in school? LOL Actually... I'm oddly compelled to do just such a thing! I can just see the look on my wife's face when I tell her I've been gambling online for essay's, school grades, etc etc. Too funny!

I would be interested in this, what city is it in? I think you will get more interest if you were to advertise this locally. But I think there are specific laws about this kind of thing, so you should talk to a lawyer to see if this is possible. You might also have some luck working with a charity, they could promote the raffle for you and keep some of the proceeds. Good luck!
That scheme is totally nonsense because that is not gambling it seems pure scam so you have to find someone trusted person who knows you personally at this forum for escrow funds than it can be thinkable about this.

My thoughts on this are that as a noob coming out with such a crazy ass scheme it screams one thing - SCAM. Seriously man, come on, nobody is going to fall for this shit. Nothing to see here people, please press back & move on. Do not fall for something like this.

Nobody would participate in this. Not only does this look like a clear scam but even if you were legit there is no way 1,000 people would enter.
To be clear, this is just a check for interest in said essay contest. Should there be sufficient interest, I would work with an attorney to make everything legal as well as provide proof of ownership, as well as draw up a contract that officially states all the rules and regulations of the essay contest. Within the contract it will define that there will be a guaranteed winner should all 1000 essay entries be filled, and if there are less than 1000 entries, refunds would be issued to the appropriate parties, etc.
