A few months ago I started providing escrow services, and did so free of charge.  Of course many clients sent me tips but I want to be clear; I wasn't doing it for the money.  My original motivation was to prevent naive newbies from getting scammed.

Over the months I gathered that most of my clients were trading Amazon SES accounts.  Before I started this project I knew nothing about these accounts, but I've since learned that most of the buyers are most likely email spammers, and the sellers are often creating these accounts by violating the TOS of Amazon.  Say what you will about scamming a large, wealthy organization, but I feel a scam is a scam regardless of the victim's ability to absorb the loss.

I realize that nothing I mentioned above is illegal, but it's not something I care to support or condone.  I also noticed a pattern occurring; a couple of my clients started advertising in their threads that I was willing to provide escrow services for their sales of these accounts.  After providing escrow for a few successful transactions, some of these guys started convincing their buyers that they can be trusted to deal direct, without escrow.  You guessed it, here comes the SCAM!

So, after giving it some thought I realized that I was actually providing legitimacy to these scammers by giving them the opportunity to build some reputation.  Quite the opposite of my original intention.  As a result I have decided to close my escrow service for the time being.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about how troublesome these transactions can be, but suffice it to say some have been by far the most aggravating and time consuming.  To make things worse, I suspect that one particular member has been stalking me on Telegram with the intention of wasting my time.  This member has been on a crusade against anyone and everyone who is buying and selling SES accounts.  He's using multiple accounts (on Telegram) to pretend that he has a trade, then after a significant amount of back and forth, he'll back out and request a refund.  This has happened several times in the last couple of weeks.

Couple all of this with the fact that I've been really busy IRL lately, and you can see why I've gotten so frustrated.  Which is a sad thing.  I want to be able to provide my service to the community, but I really don't appreciate being abused for it.

Which brings me to my question to the community, and specifically to those who also provide escrow services:  Do you guys avoid transactions that include these accounts?  How does the community feel about these account sales?  I realize that the administration of the forum is unlikely to change their policies regarding the sale of these accounts, and I wouldn't expect or want them to.

Please discuss.

I think, for the most part, whenever account-related escrow transactions are carried out, it somehow eventually ends up to be unethical, and has somewhat become a norm for a lot of escrow service providers to deny such sort of requests. Again, like you said you are not doing this for the money, so don't involve yourself in something that doesn't feel right to you. Trust me, your gut instinct is >>>>>> better than anything else in situations like these.

If you wanna offer escrow services for the community, do it for transactions that you feel would be helping both the buyer and the seller, and avoiding any conflict-ions.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

I actually don't accept such trades before except last month after I received lots of messages here and on telegram, so I decided to accept them temporarily. I have at least 2 successful trades of it and the rest are all failed (at least 4 of them), mostly because the seller is or discovered as a scammer when the account was checked by me and/or the buyer.

How does the community feel about these account sales?
9 out of 10 times, it leans towards one of the involved parties having a bad motive [directly/indirectly doing something that's classified as illegal or unethical].
That's why I started to declined most of the new offers related to this trade except to those regular buyer(s) who knows lots of this account trade.

I haven't been following your escrow service so I don't know what kind of trades you were escrowing so I'm going to assume you escrowing many kinds of trades. But I think instead of closing the entire escrow service you could blacklist account sales, or at least just SES account sales, from using your escrow.

I very likely will reopen the service with restrictions at some point.  Right now I am quite busy and tired of all the time wasting notifications on Telegram.  I'm not going anywhere, if a couple of members approach me for help with a trade I would not refuse them.  Just as long as it doesn't involve any kind of shady account sales.

Yes, I always do [same goes for all of the other digital goods involving account sales of any kind]...
- You'll save yourself a lot of headaches by ignoring such deals + you won't be giving buyers a false sense of security.

If someone wants to spam "legally" they can set up their own mail servers and sell that service but abusing SES is not cool. Plus those accounts are probably hacked, created with stolen identities, or whatever else these spammers do to avoid detection. All this makes it worse for legitimate users - I had to jump through some serious hoops recently to get my SES quota increased despite being a legitimate paying user for 3+ years.
