at last some nice reply from pivx community - https://pivx.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/1697

so my problem is fixed, I'm the owner of my coins. I did buy pivx for long term investment (at a hype, so I'm under the line) and now I think is a good time to buy a little bit more. I did not buy pivx cause on passive income, fast transactions, anonymity, etc. I just did choose 8 most interesting crypto and invest in them.

But I'm curious why did you guys choose pivx and around what other crypto.

I now bought PIVX for 1830 satoshi. I liked this price, as it fell by 20% in relation to Bitcoin for the last 10 days. But this is my speculative entry into this coin.
Cool.  Do you plan on staking it or did you buy it just as an investment?  I'm really interested in the staking feature, but I'm afraid my internet connection might be a little too spotty to do it.  You have to have your computer on all the time with PIVX core running, which I'm not crazy about but am willing to give it a shot.

"But if you can see your coins on the blockchain explorer, they're yours."

Yeaa but I want just to make sure, that my wallet is accesible, and I can spend those coins Smiley

"Again, I'm no computer expert and so take my opinion with several shakes of salt, but I think your problem has to do with your computer or operating system.  Obviously I could be wrong, but maybe someone here can help you with the issue.  I can attest to the fact that PIVX core works, so it isn't that.  Anyway, I can't help you at all so I wish you luck getting access to your coins."

Thanks for your interest, but wallet is not working on 3 systems, win7, win10, linux mint. So it must be something with wallet it self, or my ISP - but i think wallet cause I can't even import blocks from hard drive.

@electronicash  "PIVX is one of the project supported by the Ubuntu community which is why this is going to be a profitable investment. it may not just be with Ubuntu later on but the whole Linux community because I think they are adding PIVX wallet on their repositories. if you have invested months ago, you would have the max profit when bulls come." yea and bitcoin wallet is support by windows, so it automatically must be a success... lol

gjhiggins  "The PIVX "official" website provides relevant links to other sidechannels in the landing page top navbar."

pivix official forum is a... joke - https://forum.pivx.org/t/pivx-installation-problem/4934 there is no help there now and even before. You need to dig to everything you self - read forums, watch youtube videos, etc.

Discord, Telegram, Slack etc. The PIVX "official" website provides relevant links to other sidechannels in the landing page top navbar
Thanks for your input--I don't use any of those services that you mentioned, as I don't do much talking online with others (except for this forum), but I'll definitely take a look at the PIVX site.  I visited it when I downloaded PIVX core but didn't really see what else is available there.

And yeah, it makes sense that there's not much discussion about PIVX here, given that this is a forum dedicated to bitcoin.  The altcoin section is just a spam-filled mess, and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of serious discourse about any given altcoin.

what is the state of the PIVX community these days?
AIUI, it is vigorous. Bitcointalk appears to have gradually lost a lot of, ahem, currency for altcoin devotees. Part of the decline is probably attributable to an increase in use of alternate (and, ultimately, competing) side channels such as Discord, Telegram, Slack etc. The PIVX "official" website provides relevant links to other sidechannels in the landing page top navbar.

Cheers

Graham

But I have confirmation that they send it - via blockchain explorer.
Oh, OK I didn't even realize coinroom was an exchange, as I've never heard of them.  My bad.  But if you can see your coins on the blockchain explorer, they're yours.

Again, I'm no computer expert and so take my opinion with several shakes of salt, but I think your problem has to do with your computer or operating system.  Obviously I could be wrong, but maybe someone here can help you with the issue.  I can attest to the fact that PIVX core works, so it isn't that.  Anyway, I can't help you at all so I wish you luck getting access to your coins.

Well, if you'd invested in PIVX months ago, you probably would have bought in at over $3.  That's much higher than the current price, and there's no guarantee that any influx of investors will drive it up.  But we'll see.  I don't have any particular fondness for most altcoins but I do like PIVX for some reason--and it's going to be one of the coins I'm going to hold for the long term.

We'll see how the staking goes.  Nothing has shown up in my wallet yet, but it hasn't been that long since I set it up for staking.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!

PIVX is one of the project supported by the Ubuntu community which is why this is going to be a profitable investment. it may not just be with Ubuntu later on but the whole Linux community because I think they are adding PIVX wallet on their repositories. if you have invested months ago, you would have the max profit when bulls come.

@The Pharmacist "You never mentioned what exchange you used"

like I have wrote before - https://coinroom.com/ and there is no option for the TxId. But I have confirmation that they send it - via blockchain explorer. So now I want to set up my wallet - then I can be sure that I'm a owner of those coins.

But pivx allways crash on block 908000 when syncing with network (even when reading blocks from disc - cause I have download the bootstrap):

pivx-3.2.0/bin/pivx-qt -forcestart
pivx-qt: main.cpp:2757: void RecalculateZPIVMinted(): Assertion `ReadBlockFromDisk(block, pindex)’ failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

Yea IF they send it... thats a big IF after >1< day withdrawal time  - https://coinroom.com/
You never mentioned what exchange you used, unless I missed it.  But when I trade coins on exchanges like Binance, they show the TxId for the withdrawal after it's submitted and goes through successfully.  Is the exchange you used not doing that?  Because obviously if that info is given, you know your coins will show up eventually, regardless of whether the PIVX wallet shows a balance or not.

Also, can you not look at the PIVX block explorer to see if the address you provided for the withdrawal has any funds on it?  I'm obviously a relative idiot when it comes to blockchain mechanics, but I would think there would be a way to figure out if you're in possession of the funds.  And I have a suspicion that your issue has something to do with your computer or operating system.  But I don't know, and I wish you good luck.  Do me a favor and update this thread if you get your coins, eh?

@The Pharmacist  "I did the same thing when I downloaded PIVX core this time.  I sent some coins to one of the receiving addresses, and they didn't show up until well over a week later when it finally got done synching.  Yep, it took that long.  I think you might just be having some technical issues, but you should still be in possession of the coins sent from the exchange."

Thanks for interest anyway I hope for the same thing - that after sync my pivx will show up.

@AUruHM  "Sorry, but why your choice is PivX?" Cause dash was expensive at that time and pivx seems to be reasonable alternative.

I don't invest only in BTC. I like LTC, IOTA, LSK and many more. I think portfolio diversification is important, so I have many coins on many exchanges so if one coin is going down or an exchange (like in this situation) I don't lose all crypto investment.

Anyway I did not used wallet that is more crashy and inconvenient as this one (and there are more technicaly complicated wallets like IOTA)... I think a tutorial 'how to' would be very helpful for pivx community.

Sorry, but why your choice is PivX? Because he was one of the expansive masternodes and show a huge growth on the 2017 bullrun? I don't say anything bad but why you choose pivx now?
Technically I can't help anything, sorry. I follow for another coin but it's not a subject of those thread

Sorry the exchange was going down and send everybody a notice with ONE day window to pull out their coins.
What exchange was that?  That sounds like complete BS to me that they'd tell you you have to withdraw your coins...or else.

Now when I have time, both windows 7 version and linux mint version is not working properly (and I would really like to know if the coins were send by the exchange).
If there's a txid that shows the coins were sent from the exchange, they were certainly sent.  However (and you may already know this), if the PIVX wallet hasn't synched up to the time when the coins arrived in that wallet, you won't see them in it.  I did the same thing when I downloaded PIVX core this time.  I sent some coins to one of the receiving addresses, and they didn't show up until well over a week later when it finally got done synching.  Yep, it took that long.  I think you might just be having some technical issues, but you should still be in possession of the coins sent from the exchange.

Meanwhile, I've had the wallet up and running for staking for a few days now and am still waiting to see if I actually earn anything.  I've read that it can take a month or so before that finally happens, so we'll see.

Sorry the exchange was going down and send everybody a notice with ONE day window to pull out their coins. So I immediately put out some pivx. I just download 3.2.0 and immediately send coins to first wallet address it generated. I don;t even sync the wallet with blockchain.

Now when I have time, both windows 7 version and linux mint version is not working properly (and I would really like to know if the coins were send by the exchange). It just crash all the time. I did try 3.1.1 version and same thing happened. I tried to redone block downloading X times, I tried to download block bootstrap zip file but it was not working either. I tried to look for some help, but the instructions were outdated and simply do not work.

So the point is if you wana invest in pivx I would try to play with it first, and wait till all problems are fixed and everything works just like it supposed to.

I have tried 3.2.0 and previous versions to no avail.

No matter if I sync wallet online or by downloading pivx chain bootstrap app always crash and close it self or just display info about problem with “recalculating mined pivz”…
I'm using version 3.1.1, which I downloaded about a week and a half ago, and I'm using Windows 10.  I haven't gotten the errors you're getting, though it did take a very long time to synch with the blockchain--it was about a week before it completed.

I'd love it if someone sees this thread and answers your question.  All I've gotten here so far are shitposts, and it's discouraging when no one wants to participate in a legitimate discussion.  Even though your post was off-topic, at least it was about PIVX.

Hands down it’s most problematic walled I have ever try to install. Any idea how to fix this?

Ever since childhood, I've had somewhat of a fascination with passive income.  Back in the day I used to have a passbook savings account at my local bank, which most banks don't even offer anymore.  But the idea of letting my money work for me while I'm off doing other things has long attracted me.  These days, crypto is the hot thing and it's sucked me in.  Not surprisingly, the idea and existence of proof-of-stake coins is very attractive to me, and so after doing a little research I figured I'd give at least one of them a shot.

I owned some PIVX a few months ago and attempted to stake it on my PC with the PIVX core wallet, but as my internet connection was lousy I never actually earned anything, and I ended up selling what I had.  Recently I bought more and I'm going to give it another shot.

My question is:  what is the state of the PIVX community these days?  I searched bitcointalk for threads with PIVX as the main point of discussion, and it seems like all of them are a couple of years old at least.  Does the coin have a lot of support, or is it going to end up in the Yobit 1-satoshi graveyard of shitcoins?  My concern is that if no one is interested in PIVX (or any PoS coin for that matter), there's no point in staking it, much less owning it.  I fully understand that it probably won't ever find real-world use, but if enough people at least think of it as an investment it might have a future.

I'd also like to hear from members who've earned PIVX through staking, specifically how long it usually takes to earn any and what happens if your internet connection is spotty.  I've tried to find answers to those questions but have come up blank.  Thanks everyone.
