white spaces will make a difference.  and cris is correct, just resore wallet choose shorter password.

Do you mean that when you created your wallet, you chose a password that was the same as your seed?

Although there shouldn't be any problem with that, I have to ask... how do you remember it? The point of having a separate password is so that you don't need to remember the seed....

In any case, if you have the full seed (it should be twelve words long), you can just do a File -> New/Restore, create a new wallet file, choose to Restore from its seed, and then paste it in.

I copy and pasted my seed text to use as my password and when I tried to use it, electrum said it was incorrect. I even pasted into notepad before I set it to make sure it was in my clipboard correctly. I am wondering if perhaps when I copied the original text if it was displayed on more than one line if that would make a difference? (it showed up as a single line when i tested it in notepad beforehand). I would greatly appreciate any help anybody could give.
