its atually a good question and in reality NO
but there are some conditions where it would affect you such as if your on a small ISP as this would have to go through other ISPs to reach the server which would cause "lag" and shares to be "stale" and rejected
Most servers in the EU and main citys in the US and Canada are on the raw backbone of the fiber system (almost no lag or ping) so theres very few stale shares
but if you do get lag or high stale shares then it could be down to your connection having to go through other ISP networks to get to the server which takes more time...

I have a question. Does it really matter how far from the actual pool you are? I mean I'm in the USA and joined a pool who is in Europe. Would that affect any of my share submission or anything like that? I'm just thinking about all those download sites that give you options on diffrent mirror sites to download something because of speed.
