There are plenty of scam messages in slack, I got them quite frequently. Please beware and don’t click on any website url or send coins to the addresses. When in doubt, check with the main channels.
I don't get a lot of spam messages, but thanks for the warnings about clicking on links. Always good to have that reminder.
If you receive messages from people you do not know do not ignore it. Like me, there are many messages to me. I also read the news that Slacks is chronic at phishing sites. The more victimized are just novices I can advise you. Do not open any links especially if you do not know the person you are sending messages because this might be a phishing site.
That's what you need to be sure. Do not open links from slacks because there are many scattered exploiters there. And they can already know your personal passwords and so on. So the slacks have been hacked in another campaign because there are so many spammers and weird ones that we do not even know
I dont know why slack cant shut down the bots tht are sending out the rogue messages which are behind these attempts ate stealing peoples ethereum, but always be careful with links - even when they look legitimate.

Don't get fooled by their big claims, those messages are from scammers. Many people have lost thousands of dollar worth of ETH and Tokens through such scams.
I think you are talking about Usual spam messages from fishing sites which ask you to click on myetherwallet (fishing site link) and login to your ETH wallet to either get free tokens (related to that slack group).
Don't click on this links, they just want to get your ETH's private key so that they can steal every token and ETH you have there.
I have stopped joining slack groups lately because this issue hasn't been solved by slack team and looks like this is quite hard for them to fix. I am using telegram group these days..

Slack seems to be a hive of villainy and scum. There are loads of moans about varying channels about relentless scamminess. I'm not on any Slack channel but after reading what I have I definitely won't be joining in the fun.
For pure chattage perhaps coins should switch to Telegram groups.

To join a slack campaign you need to first understand the ICO's slack you are joining and remember there are others on the campaign looking to gain token so it is not so surprising people will go out of regular and try to spam people. I will entreat you to read all you can about the slack before getting involved since i am experiencing exactly what you are going through. ive also seen some simillar complaints here that they get a random message after they've join a channel asking thier details and other info, i think that this is a scam attempt or some phising tactics happening lately on slack. just be extra cautios and check the name of the group or company online before trying to fill up or applying these links/forms to avoid unecesary problems
Yes, I got spam direct messages containing phishing link all the time. It is so annoying, I don't know why nothing was done to prevent them.
As a safety measure, DO NOT click any links contained in the direct message. If you want to access your online wallet, especially myetherwallet as it is the main phishing target, just type it manually in the address bar. Even Google ads could also display ads for phishing site, so better type it manually.

Hope you are aware of what a slack channel is all about,all of the tokens and projects have their own slack channel and the idea of a fishing site depends upon which channel you have joined.If you write something be specific about the channel and then we can see whether it is a fishing channel or not.
