My general rule of thumb is that how ever many 16x slots you have is the most number of GPU's you can put without needing powered risers.

You have 3x 16x slots, therefore you can use 3x GPU's on risers without having to power them. If you add a 4th card but your motherboard only supports 3x 16x PCI slots, you'll need a powered riser.

I run a small farm and have not had a single issue.

Yeah I heard that it's quite small

Its not that they are more expensive, but I dont want to mess with them
planing to run 4X 280x and 1X 5850 card on P8Z68V motherboard with dual 750w PSU setup.
Motherboard image here: http://techinstyle.tv/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/P8Z68-V.jpg

My motherboard Does have 2X 4pin power connectors, and it has already 3 full pci-x 16 slots so its already designed to handle that kind of load without the need of powered-risers? no?

Also Can I use the Pci-e X16 to x1 risers IN the FULL X16 slots or I need to get x16 to x16 raiser?
