Hey thanks for your reply. I was worried about it because I had read somewhere that said something to the effect of, if you didn't use that proper port then you'd basically just be adding to the hashrate but you would never get anything awarded. Since my hash speed is a complete joke I wasn't going to be hitting anything anytime soon to be able to tell otherwise. I did, however, just order a couple of new video cards and as soon as they get here I'll probably check out some pools then. Right now the whopping 30-35 kh/s that I get isn't going to help much or earn me anything lol. It's a Radeon HD 7450 that came with this comp like 18 months ago. It works, so I've been able to get a taste and see how things work, but that's all. I just got some new ones though. I have a HD 6950 on it's way, along with 2 R9 270x's. I plan on putting the 6950 into one computer I already have, and then building another computer with the pair of 270x's.

Yeah, as long as the port is not taken, you can freely use it.

If you want to mine in pool, come and join our doge pool, just started few hours ago Smiley, and it has 0% fee.

So I found that I could set my own ports for each coin and then allowing my other computers local IP (192.168.1.3) and having it connect to the same port. In the coin.conf file I put the different port I was using and it seemed as though everything was working. I can't really tell though because with this joke of a hashrate I get right now I wasn't expecting to hit anything anyway. So for example let's say the default rpcport=22555 for Dogecoin, what if I were to put my own port there of like 6100? When I put that in my dogecoin.conf file and then run my miner using the port 6100 both of my computers connect fine and appear as though they're mining. My real question is are they mining for me? I was using GUIScrypt Miner which was just a GUI overtop of cgminer 3.7.2 so I just run the windows batch file from cmd line so I can see better details as it runs. It will say "new block detected on network" and like I said, it appears like it's working, but being a newb to all this I wasn't sure if I could change ports like that or if I had to stick with the specified one that each coin has listed. Thanks in advance as this is not been an easy thing to google and get results on. This forum has been an amazing wealth of knowledge so far though, and I can't thank you guys enough for that. Happy holidays everyone.
