Do I understand correctly that I have to post 5 times in this forum until I can post in others?  Doesn't that encourage spam in the newbie forum?
I imagine the original intention was to get us to have meaningful, on-topic discussions.

It's a forum, not a democracy. While your on this forum you follow the rules. Believe it, this forum doesn't have much restrictions. At least this way it keeps the clutter to one forum.

Good point.  Newbies spam newbies...  Having trained many new employees in my time, I actually sort of understand their logic.  Go figure...

I think it's a built in 'time out' so that you can read or google some of the newbie questions they've had since the inception. Regular readers of the boards probably don't care if the 'newbie' board gets spammed, they've "paid their time" per se...

Sort of ironic isn't it?  They actively encourage spam on this board, and I really don't understand why.  What behavior do they think they are encouraging?
