It's better to keep them so that we can read off-topic. Reading off-topic is an additional learning for everyone of us because sometimes off-topic post are informative but doesn't belong the board or on the bitcoin and alt coin discussion. We can also post there when we are asking off-topic if we want to discuss topic that's not belong to cryptocurrency.

That will make the current off-topic spammers move to other boards. I barely read off-topic, so I prefer to keep them there Tongue
Loycev you are correct if the spammers post does not count in the off topic Bord they spamming activities will be move to other sensitive section of the forum, the best thing global moderators should do is to Change the rule's of that section and make it more strict. Because if we rely o. The deleting off topic reply only the moderators can not be everywhere at the same time.

Post count doesn't matter anywhere, so even if they are spamming, it won't fetch them any merit, and besides most posters there are bots, and no matter what you do,its gonna end up being useless. And like others mentioned, more and more fucktards would come to meta and fuck up words, not to mention that they'll start meowing at Lauda.

Bounty hunters spammers don't actually go to the off-topic section because most bounty project don't accept mist made in the off-topic section.
And the forum but counting post made by an individual in there post count will not help the forum rather it will help the user Because the post will still be on that section but not on the post counts on who made it

Because the "Off-topic" section remaines one of the biggest bases for account farming and spam.
But they still need the merits to gain rank and it might be a better idea to keep an eye on the merit distribution for low quality spam posts that get merited there even though DdmrDdmr posted proof that there isn't much of that going on.

At least hopefully then the replies will be reported, and dealt with. The off topic section is a mess, and I doubt many of the real users which aren't farming their activity actually post there. I used to post there, and frequent it occasionally, but honestly I haven't been to that section properly in months. It's full of forum games which honestly I don't think should be allowed.

I don’t think I’ve ever posted in there in over 4 years of being registered here. It’s a stinking cess pool of absolute nonsense. Like Lauda said, it’s best to keep them confined to their cell of shit posting there.

Look like you are confusing the users here. Time for you for a doctor visit.

Some of the threads in off topic are on point and genuine also. So punishing all the members because of fault of some spammers is not right in my opinion. Better option in my opinion is to take stronger action against the spammers like banning them and taking other strong actions.

I am pretty that some that post in the off topic dont yet know that they need merits to rank up and think they can do it with activity alone. So just leave them be if you ask me.

Aside from that, the fact that posts there do count towards activity, but activity being a lesser companion to merits is no big deal. Campaign managers mostly ignore this board in their rules, so posting there has little benefit towards rank and signature campaigns.

Most likely there begin to develop farms. As soon as they receive a sufficient amount of activity, either the purchase of merit or the receipt of merit from other altos follows. Then they go to other boards.

<...> Sooner or later, all those who abuse the merit system will be found and punished.
I doubt there is much merit abuse going on there (some for sure, as in other boards, but on a small scale).

These are the stats for that board:
Code:
year      month     nTx       nMerits   nMeritsNonQA   nFrom     nTo
2019      2         22        37        37             15        17        (as of 08/02/2019)
2019      1         51        121       121            28        41
2018      12        69        152       152            24        42
2018      11        76        141       141            37        47
2018      10        102       408       178            47        70
2018      9         83        259       128            53        61
2018      8         43        108       88             26        35
2018      7         43        177       107            29        35
2018      6         49        173       78             36        39
2018      5         67        213       163            49        47
2018      4         74        150       130            60        52
2018      3         187       478       357            61        116
2018      2         214       796       383            134       111
2018      1         108       369       207            85        42
Total               1188      3582      2270
I’ve create a count of merit called nMeritsNonQA since QA was a large contributor to a thread of his which ended-up in off-topic.

Aside from that, the fact that posts there do count towards activity, but activity being a lesser companion to merits is no big deal. Campaign managers mostly ignore this board in their rules, so posting there has little benefit towards rank and signature campaigns.

Not counting the posts in 'Off-topic' would likely not lessen their incentive to post in there, because they don't do it for gaining activity points since it doesn't make a difference for them no matter how many activity points they get, they cannot rank up as long as they don't earn any Merits. And if they do it for financial gains (since signature campaigns don't count post in off-topic board, but bounty campaigns do), then as LoyceV said, it is better to keep them there and not give them the incentive to post outside that board, which is exactly what they would do if their posts start to get ignored in that board.

I agree with Pmalek and LoyceV. It will be a disaster. It would be better if they publish their stupid posts in one place. Sooner or later, all those who abuse the merit system will be found and punished.

Credible bounty managers do not count posts made in off topic, and that reduces the financial motivation of users to post or outrightly spam those sections.
There has to be some sort of motivation spurring those users who frequent that section. It is impossible to completely rid the forum of spam, it would just be moved to some other section.
Although it would be more work to reply to on topic discussions.

I agree with LoyceV, lets keep the post count in the off topic and let them post there rather than having to read the spam in the more serious boards.
All they can do is keep increasing their post count and activity but merits will not come their way.

If you want it all @theymos must, change the "Off-topic" rule if you say Newbie have to post zero.

if a Newbie without posts will write a comment in the 'Off-topic', his/her post count still remained at zero.

Current rules:
Off-topic replies have become a big problem. From now on, I will be deleting such replies without notice, forum-wide. If your replies disappear, this is probably why.

All replies must respond to the topic's original post in some way, even if they are replying to an on-topic reply. If your reply has nothing to do with the topic post, either add some content that is relevant or create a new topic.

Please report off-topic posts as soon as you see them.

For now it's the biggest mistake, which happened in off-topic, but I think that, the question arises again.
1. How does this matter, whether it applies to the Member or ranks higher, if there is content that is also problematic, what is also the count of zero.

Example:

The Off-topic section is one of the main spam-factories on the forum.

To solve this problem it might be worthwhile to not count the users' comments in the 'Off-topic'.

Therefore, if a Newbie without posts will write a comment in the 'Off-topic', his/her post count still remained at zero.

In that case forum members will have less incentive to post spam and low value messages.
