Same goes for me.  When people want to do deals on Telegram instead of the forum, I just assume they are a scammer.  Skype & Discord also.

100% seems to be the case. All the scam threads always ask to deal off the forum for what ever reason. I'm not sure why I don't use any of those 3. But is there a reason why they are looking to deal on these platforms instead of the forum? If they were legitimate and did their business publicly on the forum then they might even get a good reputation and actually benefit from that with future sales. I just don't understand this Telegram culture we are currently going through.

Many of the telegram scams are done by the scammers in a similar way. They pretend to be the admins of the groups by copying the profile picture and the TG name and when a new member enters the group, they message him pretending to be admins.

To avoid the situation, you should always keep your bitcoin address as your status and request people to ask for a signed message from that address before sending any money.

On the telegram, I have seen people who pretend to be telegram official staff, and people who have pretended to be well-known users of the forum, and they will eventually do one thing: seduce you to transfer money.
For the telegram username, we can't do anything, but keep in mind that no matter what telegram username you see, if it asks you for money, don't give a penny!

Hey all! I've just received a Telegram message from someone that someone is using my name on Telegram.

Just to keep everyone informed, I only have one telegram @jaceefrost and I am not making deals on telegram unless we talked here in bitcointalk and I have given you a signed a message.
I am not using any other BTC address besides
my vanity add: 1jaceeKZ3SecBYsJGLAbfvJnigN9xfsAi
and my exchang wallet: 3P5wExiszDFet9ZXYpbd47WHz87TyGUKYs

Apparently, who ever this guy is, he got my name because I've responded to one of his thread here that he is looking for a high rank user for a bounty management project and I offered him my designing service.
He asked me to create an ANN thread and he asked me to send him a message in bitcointalk first to confirm that I am the owner of this account, and so I did sent him a message because I am always asking for a payment first policy for new clients, I gave him assurance that I'm not someone who's pretending.

here's that b*stard telegram: @dontevencopyme
and the deleted thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/need-hero-member-5073849

Be careful of these newbie account guys.
