I prefer you to stop the service and repair it , otherwise you are just playing bad game for your customer's money.

Margin has been down for over a half hour. Please announce when it is upgraded as it is basically unusable at this point.

Bitfinex has been experiencing tremendous growth due to its success formula.
People can short bitcoins on it and leverage their positions and this 2  functions have been attracting a lot of attention and caused an exponential growth in traffic.
Bitfinex is upgrading its systems and also has recently appointed a database administrator that is working on it.
We are confident to be able to migrate our platform on a much stronger and powerful solution within a week time from now.

Please be aware these have been very intense moments for us and we are constantly working on new implementations to help out our customers and improve their trading experience.

Urwhatuknow, thank you for the response. Sadly after already losing ~20% of my total position due to margin being down for over an hour earlier, it doesn't help much.

Some type of notice as to why we were getting all of these delays and errors BEFORE we get ass-raped by the problems would have been great.

There is a work around I do:
1. Right click  any link on the page, and open in new tab
2. That page will get the error, and once loaded, exit that page
3. Refresh your trading page
4. Huh
5. Profit

If you do that, you get logged out. Then the error again. This thread doesn't even get into the fact that they run out of reserve funds on a daily basis.

 (No reserve active error) GOOD LUCK TRYING TO COVER A LONG OR SHORT! YOU CANT!

If you are thinking about using Bitfinex

DO NOT USE THEM

The margin trading page goes down on the regular nearly 3-4 times per hour. If you have a open position and the engine has a slight lag, it will be 10+ minutes before your market order is executed; basically leaving you to the will of the market. Limit orders are near impossible to utilize with the downtime and lag.

That combined with margin leverage is the PERFECT concoction to cause you HUGE losses.
