Ya .. I screwed up and used them without looking them up here first ...
lost my bitcoin and the domain 'thefiatfreezone.com' to them ...
They aren't a registrar, are they?

They have a reseller license as one, yes

I didn't know that refund for domain name can be possible  Roll Eyes
if you pay domain name registration, with CC or with BTC, there is no money back. it is paid and they can give refund only from their pocket but they can not take back registration of domain. so, it is quite logical that refund is just promise but not reality or maybe some registrants are ready to send refund/money from their pocket. it is different in the case of webhosting, they can send money back without damage for them. in any case, I don't recommend to anyone to test service than to buy only if they are serious about buying, 2 days is fast to decide if some hosting is good or bad.
I have several websites and I send money "cash in the letter", from 2009. webhosting cost me 12 eur per year (1GB space, 20GB bandwidth, plus I created much more subdomains than it is allowed) and one domain cost me 8 eur. I have 3 domains and the main domain has 3 subdomains. from 1Gb, I use 400MB, and the biggest space is occupied by my wordpress blog (I uploaded video and mp3 files), other my sites are flash and html/css, so, I use only one database for wordpress.

We'll just need to wait for reputable hosting site(s) that exist & accept modern forms of payment to start accepting Bitcoin - not "founded with Bitcoin".

Umm hello, is this thing on (tap, tap).  Microtronix has been a reputable hosting provider for 10 years Wink, we have clients in 7 countries of the world and offices in two Wink  We not only have accepted CC's for years but we also accept Mexican Pesos, Lempira's and Quetzales Wink

And I can vouch for jfreak - his services are legit!

Sorry you had to go through this - at least it's a warning to the rest of us.

I've been looking at a few Bitcoin hosts, but since Bitcoin is "Bitcoin" aka you won't get crap back if you're dealing with crooks.

We'll just need to wait for reputable hosting site(s) that exist & accept modern forms of payment to start accepting Bitcoin - not "founded with Bitcoin".

I almost used kalyhost, but in the end decided for cinfu. No problems so far.

+1 -1

I only use Cinfu for domain registrations and their support is instant and awesome.

When I had a VPS with them (back when I was running BIT-FU) it was slow as dog shit. No clue if that has changed or not.

my cinfu vps is fast (got the one for $15/month (in BTC, of course))

TL:DR - But I've been there too Original Poster -- Everyones response to me when i wrote a hate thread on Kalyhost was that " The owner of MtGox dosen't have time to attend to simple matters like this" but then you gotta wonder -- why is he even running a biz he cant attend to?

For those who don't already know my dilemma was that I payed kalyhost as in a good faith of someone who donated to my cause.. the donator was quite displeased to find out that kalyhost didn't even setup a hosting server or give me a valid login to connect to.. I'm gonna assume that the donator thought at the time I probubly ran off with the 3btc(at the time)... I've even tried to address kalyhost on their facebook no response....

After an attempt to notify Mt.Gox's staff, which happens to overlap with Tibanne's, which happens to overlap with Kalyhost's, I was promptly kicked from the #mtgox channel by neofutur.

Quote
this channel is for mtgo support only

I wouldn't say using the regular support channels has netted any results for the OP, considering it's been a month without response.

Screw Cinfu and their crappy oversold service. http://bitvps.com/ all the way! They are run by a proficient pen tester who is available on IRC (Freenode - #btcvps)
The original poster is clearly not competent enough to use a VPS, or else I would have plugged my own service earlier. :p

Are you hosting on gold plated disks? Those bitcoin prices for your packages is beyond ripoff.

I've used Kalyhost a number of times and continue to do so for domain names, I've not had much trouble with them. My biggest complain would be their interface isn't too great but thats about it.

I've gotten some really cheap shared hosting from Cinfu, pretty happy with that.

I haven't bought any services from them myself, but have worked with sites hosted on their platform.  I wouldn't recommend them either - there are better hosts out there.

I have been trying out different hosts/registrars, and I haven't had a lot of luck. I've had bad experiences with Bitcoin-Hosting and Implitech. The absolute worst experience I've had, however, is with Kalyhost.

The Kalyhost site explicitly states that you can get your money back for any reason, within 30 days. I decided to give them a try, and found their services to be extremely lacking:

- Horrible control panel
- Extremely difficult (or impossible) to install CMSes (I never got WordPress to install)
- Impossible to manipulate add and ESPECIALLY delete databases, using PHPMyAdmin.
- No ability to change MX records.

After beating my head against a wall for about two days, I finally decided to call it quits. I very politely (and repeatedly) asked them for a full refund, and almost a month later, I have had nothing but evasion, stalling, and extremely vague responses.

This is the trouble with Bitcoin -- it will never catch on if the people promoting are also abusing it.

Here is the thread between me and Kalyhost:

Me , Dec-31 2011 01:03 (JST):

Hello,

Two days ago, I purchased hosting and domain name registration from you,
but I can't seem to configure the database correctly. The domain is
xxxxxxx.com. The total for the transaction was:

Bitcoins 11.61
Bitcoins 2.42

I sent a request for help, but I haven't received a response.

Your guarantee states that you will refund my money within 30 days, no
questions asked. Can you please do so? You can send the funds to this
bitcoin address:

14dbmdXGLsLQWhBdCGwLTsNapv6ofRYNBd

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. We will try to assist you to configure the database correctly and will notify you of any updates regarding this issue. Please be advised that our office is closed from December 23rd to January 3rd and it may take some time for our developer to address your issue. We would like to thank you for your patience in this process.

Me, Dec-31 2011 12:42 (JST):

Thanks for getting back to me. I think at this point, I'd just like a
refund. Is that okay?

Hi, I wrote to you almost two weeks ago regarding getting a full refund
(see thread). I had some trouble accessing some critical features of
your control panel (they don't exist), and without them, the service won't
work for me.

I had one response, then nothing.

I paid:

11.61 bitcoins for domain registration
2.42 bitcoins for hosting.

Can I please have a full refund of 14.03 bitcoins? Your website says I can
get a full refund within 30 days, for any reason. Can you please send the
amount of 14.03 bitcoins to this address:

14dbmdXGLsLQWhBdCGwLTsNapv6ofRYNBd

Thank you very much in advance.

NO RESPONSE FROM KALYHOST

----

The Me, Jan-10 11:27 (JST):

Hey guys... this is my last attempt to get my money back -- per your
guarantee.

My next (and really only) course of action is to go on the
BitCoin forums and post the thread below as a warning to other people who
might be inclined to use your site.

I really don't want to do that. Can you just refund my money please? I'd
love to be able to say KalyHost is a great company. I really would.

Thanks.

---

Jasmine, Jan-10 13:12 (JST):

Hello,
We apologize for the delayed response. We are currently inquiring our management group regarding the refund and will notify you as soon as we can. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

---

Nat, Jan-10 16:23 (JST):
Hello,
Could you please let us know which critical features are not working for you and we will try to get our developer to address it?

---

Me, Jan-10 22:24 (JST):

Sure. There is no access to MX records. I can't delete databases.

Installing WordPress is unintuitive -- I was never able to get a full
install.

I appreciate the stall tactic, but again, your website clearly guarantees
that I can get a full refund for ANY REASON within 30 days.

Please refund my money!

14.03 bitcoins.

Please send to: 14dbmdXGLsLQWhBdCGwLTsNapv6ofRYNBd

Again, if you can't honor your own guarantee, I'll post this thread on
some BitCoin-oriented sites. There's no reason for other people to have to
endure this.

Thank you.

Jasmine, Jan-12 11:42 (JST):
Hello,
Thank you for letting us know. We will speak with our management group regarding this issue and process the refunds. As soon as it is completed, we will notify you.
