I bought one for 20$ and then 10$ for shipping just to try, lost a rough 4Mhash/s but was able to use my 7 year old MoBo ;3

Those would be ok at those prices for a card or two but their cost is going to enter the area of a larger motherboard rapidly.

These are interesting to me (though it would be better if there was a PCI-X version, maybe there is).

I have quite a few older PCs with no PCI-e slots (AGP at best), I could just buy VGAs and these adapters (and maybe in some cases a PSU) and save money (and power) by not buying a newer PC to use just for mining.

These could also be useful for other PCI-e cards...

The only problem I see is that it may not fit inside the case, since all video cards that are good at mining are full height.

It's all about the game, and how you play it

Presale is live!
1) Yes they work, i've got my 5850 running on an old P4 based Xeon server with nothing but PCI-X (extended pci) slots Smiley
2) 50 euros is bullshit AKA extreemly overpriced... go look at ebay and order from some chinese guy like i did Wink i gave 22 euros including shipping for mine
3) Remember that the card is still requiring 75w through the motherboard so you might want to get extenders with dedicated molex plugs after the adaptor so you don't fry the board if it's very old or you're considering more than one card on each Smiley

No reason i can think of they wouldnt but at 50 euros i don't think they're going to make much sense you're going to run into a new motherboard being more cost effective very quickly

Since bandwidth isn't that big of an issue, I was wondering if this would be another way to utilize older gear (by adding PCI-E GPU... and PSU):

Thanks.
