there is a temperature sensor switch. What I used before is DC. I connected it to a relay to turn off AC line.

I think this one could be help if your fan box was broken or malfunction it can monitor buy using this new smart plug or if your miners overheated it will automatically turn off we know already that miners had own  auto off function when hot so this device has also depends in your setup..

just found this in google when searching before and i saw this new smart plug could help me to prevent fire in my room ..
Noted but i dont think it is a good idea to attach miners that run 24/7 to a smart plug.

I think you can make a temperature reading device that cuts powerlines

U mean it reads the temperature of the room and cut powerlines? Is it costly and have u done that?
Isnt it better if it cuts the powerline if the exhaust fan that cools it malfunctions?

My cooling is basically a big box fan. If the box fan were to malfunction or trip, my room would overheat quickly and my miners will overheat too. I know the miners have overheat protection but is that good enough?
Does the antminer switches itself off completely when that happens or goes into some standby mode where it is still turned on?
I would hope it turns itself off completely as I might not realize it for hours...

So, do u guys install an electrical device (a contactor or something) to switch off the power if the box fan were to fail?
A fail-safe as u could say.

A surge protection device is necessary in case of lightning strikes.
Is there anything else to install?
The miner will automatically stop mining, and hopefully, your fan would be reliable to where this wouldn't be an issue.
There would be no point in putting a fail-safe.
You should definitely install a surge protector.
I will definitely install a surge protector.
When it stops mining, I assume it shuts off totally, and not goes into its fan is working-standby-mode yes.
Will it cause significant wear-and-tear or any minor damage if it overheats and auto-shuts off??
I may not be around and not notice the shutoff for a few hours u see. I dont monitor it 24/7
