You could very easily install a font that simply doesn't render those characters and deal with it at a local level. Nobody forces colorful emoji on you, it's only your browser of choice that has adopted this font... If it weren't for as many people opting in to have emojis rendered, advertisers sure as hell wouldn't be using those characters.

I find them annoying. This isn't Snapchat. Also emojis can be a vector of attack that creates security issues. I am sure Theymos went over this, but there are plenty of historical examples on other platforms.

I hate them, and I usually ignore any threads with all caps titles or  symbols in the title. Just as a generalisation, it;s a great indicator of a crap or spam thread.

Broadly speaking, the symbol in the title of the conversation or topic, has a certain meaning for the site or something to promote.

The symbol in the title does not violate.

Most people advertise gambling sites by putting symbols in order to have a striking and transparent idea, Purpose The symbol on the topic title can bring people who see it into the gambling method / idea of the present and the past, even though what is placed is not the original symbol of the gambling site, but to put the symbol into thinkingurgent.

I feel there is nothing wrong with using the Symbol in the title. It highlights the topic which we want to convey. I have used it in one of my threads -

I agree that it should not be too much, it should not be used for every thread they create. It can be used for the important threads or some unique threads.

Let's see how the community react on emoticons (additional ones). Default and some additional ones are funny, but too many of them will be annoying.

Theymos has stated he would rather members not use some symbols, like brackets for sales/auctions/etc.. but have not seen any guidance on emoji type symbols.

Otherwise IMO kinda depends on what sub you're in.  I spend most my time in collectibles and that's just normal for auction style sites.  I have used a couple football symbol's for a Fantasy Football thread in games and rounds which I didn't think was a big deal. But I do agree there is a line where it's overboard, or some subs where it's not really a good fit.

I think these characters shouldn't he allowed in titles. They make it difficult to spot serious topics. But forum cannot ban unicode because the languages sub forums needs them.

There are ascii tables for each language which (with exceptions) represent most well. But yeah, some specific language boards could face problems (probably the Chinese ones mostly) although I'm no expert on the topic. English however, which is the only language used in all major boards is the best-represented language by ascii given that English is the language for which ASCII was invented.

I remove or limit them sometimes when they are either excessively annoying or distracting, they definitely shouldn't be interfering with other topic subjects.

If you don't mind picking such topics one by one on your own then I guess it's not a problem. By now, this is probably not abused to a large extent. If it ever becomes a problem, a non-invasive way to prevent such abuse would be to make a list of said characters.

Limiting title input to ascii characters would be very reasonable IMO. There's no need to add stupid symbols to titles in a pathetic attempt to get more clicks. It can be very frustrating and there are things like zalgo that can interfere with other posts.

What do you think about using symbols in titles?
It's quite rampant in the Gambling section.  Do you think these should be allowed?  I really jumbles up the page.

I think we should also ban letter "c" from the forum, i noticed increasing usage of that letter in particular, especially in meta section.
cmon people, wth, unicode is used on every forum, and suddenly its a problem. Funny how that troubles you, if it does at all, or are you just writing gibberish.

I agree.   Smiley

Anyways not sure if anyone is going to care because bitcointalk has quite a lax attitude towards advertisers.

I agree.   Undecided

What are your thoughts on symbols in titles?

Which symbols do you want to use? I am sure you can use all the unicode symbols :

Have a look to the 'title' of my post. I do not think it is wrong or against the forum rules use those symbols.
