Thanks for your replies.

I may actually go for the 036H,  it's a sure bet and it's only 20€. I already have an half-assed antenna, I'll get a yagi if needed.

The router is inside an old style village house with thick walls, and it's a slow ADSL connection. So, the antenna being b/g only, isn't much of a loss.

Death to enemies!
Alfa AWUS036H is awesome device. For 200m best results use a good antenna, yagi or small modified satellite dish. Also when using from notebook use USB y-cable for additional power. It draws power from two USB ports.

What is on another end?

If you have the budget then this should do the job. On this site the b/g model is slightly less expensive.

Since I'm having an hard time getting a reply, I might as well try here too...

In a few weeks, I will need to connect to an hotspot 200m away with obstacles in between. I already have an usb adapter and an hand-made antenna, however the signal is unstable and faint. I've read good things about the model in the thread title, however I'd like to know if someone has first hand experience with long range-wifi and knows of a better adapter.

Thank you!
