everyone in this forum is eligible for merit, but you have to write the quality post.

Merit can be compared to "like" of facebook, twitter and other social medias. But the merit points reserved for us are limited. We can give merit to the person who has a great contribution to the forum such as producing quality post and comment.

It was created to avoid from spammers, account farmers and "shitposters".

It was made to encourage everyone in the forum to make a good quality post and comment.

There is no option of Demerit.

A newbie don't have spendable merit, but indeed they are eligible for merit depending on the thing they post.

This is not right, Everyone ,who got merit,He will get smerit automatically irrespective of their membership.

example:  if you will get 1 merit ,you will get 0 smerit
if you will get 2 merit ,you will get 1 smerit (merit/2)
if you will get 3 merit ,you will get 1 smerit
if you will get 4 merit ,you will get 2 smerit (merit/2),you will not get in fraction,

i think newbie is eligible for merit/s if his/her post is a good one. if his/her post is informative, usefull thread or post he/she derves a merit point, but it really depends on our higher rank members who has the smerit if he/she consider our post or thread a good one. it really depends on him if he/she will reward us merit point/s

Each one of us according to the rank has got x number of sMerit (Spendable Merit) which you can only spend on others.

As they say:

"You have X sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future."

So go forward, and click "+Merit" in the upper right corner of this post to see how many Spendable Merit you have.
