Sorry to say most of us are struggling to answer this question when someone approaches asking if we know who we truly are or who you really are. I believe the lack of knowing yourself is one of the major problems ⚠️
What do you think?
I will say life is a journey of self discovery because until you are faced with certain situations that cannot be simulated, you will never know or be too sure how you will act. But in this life, you have to know enough about yourself so you can be able to make decisions free from other people's influence. People who have a good detail about themselves are more confident when around people than people who do not know themselves and want to impress everyone with a character of someone that are not sometimes.

It is better to know one's true self before involving in any field of life it is just like having a particular business in mind before starting up most of the mistakes people make today is as a result of wrong planning inability to discover ones area of life and believing in the content you carry is also important as a human for you to make progress I think this question goes to every successful person because you must have to know who you are before taken decision in life

Every human has an intrinsic longing deep within us to be or become something, theres this inner longing to fill a certain void in our heart and sometimes if that thing isnt achieved no matter the amount of money you may make you wont find that satisfaction hence many commit suicide; herein lies who we truly are figuring that thing out and dedicating our lifes wholly to it will bring lasting satisfaction. we live in a fast world and thus sometimes were too busy to pay attention to our inward yearnings and voices thus a lot of us are missing out of creating lasting impact in our world; a wise man once said that the richest place in the whole world is the grave because buried in there, are potentials that left untapped....
Men like Albert Einstein[relativity], Isaac Newton[gravity], Thomas Edison[bulb], Mohamed Ghandi, Nelson Mandela[freedom] etc were able to identify their purpose. The truth is that any life that is lived for oneself is a worthless life, ive come to see life as a seed that must be sown and the fruits be for the good of humankind in the absence of this there will never be a genuine satisfaction. we must of necessity search within ourselves to find this inward driven purpose.
There are a few things that deprives us from finding ourselves viz;
a. When we compare ourselves with others we miss the mark, as this saps our internal energy.
b. When we begin to place huge importance on materialistic[especially financial] gains.
c. When we begin to make excuses about our background and position thus avoiding to take a leap of faith towards actualizing our goals.
d. When we take a conservative approach to life and not launch out because we are scared instead of being courageous.....
We must understand that in pursuing our purpose is where we get to find our true self.

Even if we die like all those men you named?

St. Paul says, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that this all-surpassing power is from God, and not from us."

If we don't recognize that it is all from God, then we die in vain.

I think knowing exactly what you worth is the same thing as knowing who you are.
When you have confidence in your self, you can answer that question of knowing who you are because you know what you can offer and know what you are capable of doing.
Some people don't have confidence in their selves that is why they can't answer the question of knowing themselves because they may not perform to people expectations.

I don't think everyone knows their true identity completely and I think they are fine, at the same time some people complain about their lives without knowing their true identity, so actually they may also be finding out, or even don't want to know about it.

I and many others are children of God. We are brothers and sisters of Jesus, the Messiah. As such, we will die here like everyone, but we will be raised from death by the glory of the Father, just as Jesus was raised.

Get yourself a Bible, and get over to a Bible Christian church. Fill up on the words of the Bible, thereby inviting the Holy Spirit to work faith in Jesus-salvation in your hearts.

If you know who you are you won't have passed through someone else nobody on earth know who he or her is on the Earth what we know is that we are a living soul but we don't know our position on Earth so this question is not really answerable or I have a specific answer that you can say that this is the basic answer all these particular questions

Is some how or should I say very hard to know who you really are, some people don't even know what they can and can't do. Even there current state they do not know and it only takes something like a cancelling if I should say to get one to keep track of him/herself.
I was that kind of person when I was like 6, it affected me till 16+ fighting against that wasn't easy, is like am at a place without knowing what's even happening like am lost or something. Sometimes is as a result of what happens around you, your surroundings even the family too have an impact of not knowing who you really are.

What do you think?

I have similar thoughts. When you don't know yourself, you're already halfway to living an astray life. Not knowing yourself will result in a lack of focus, no goals to strive for, and you may feel as if you are a time traveler in this world, waiting for the clock to stop ticking and come to a halt forever.

A man who knows himself will live a straightforward life, knowing what to do and what not to do at any given time. A sense of direction promotes improved mental wellness and greater commitment to long-term goals. This is to say that without knowing yourself, you can't have a life direction, and without a life direction, there will be no goals to think about, let alone want to achieve the goal.

This question would sound differently to different persons just as our answers would be different, everyone would have his/her understanding to this question,
As for me I will say I know who I am, I know my name, my personality, I know the things I can do and things I can't do,
But I can't reply and see how this your topic is related to poverty though, I think you misunderstood your own question..

Do we know who we are? This is a critical question that need a conservative answer. Maybe op has different opinion to what it means by asking someone who they truly are. If the question is directed to me then I will have to explain myself, what I do and my profession. Some persons may not know who they are which could be the reason why they may be passing through circumstances they don't know how it comes about.

We need to know our real self some we are achieve the best out of live. If we keep scrutinizing and asking question especially from our parents of what we truly are then we can get a prompt answer to this question.

I don't think it's anyone who doesn't know who he is, it's just that many people hide who they are, maybe because they are proud and ashamed to admit they are, sometimes we are ashamed to admit that we are unemployed and want to show ourselves worthy so that many people respect it.
As a human with complete sence know who he really his or her. This question is straight forward, for someone to say he don't knows him/herself is not true statement. There are two types of talking through mouth and  mind.

I want to ask you, how do you know yourself. also, how do you find your true identity. because, this question is complicated for most people to answer. in fact, each answer will be very subjective depending on each individual. This is an abstract, biased question, if we relate it to the poverty factor. Poverty is caused by many factors, depending on how we interpret it.

However, regarding what you ask in this question, I'm pretty sure that most people don't have a definite picture of your question. the problem is, what defines this question. I mean, the essence of your question. because, in essence, this question is concerned with the essence of a person but not with poverty.

I don't need anyone to tell me who i am because I've discovered my potentials, i work on them and build a reputable career for myself, i also set some targets as milestones and got them hitted by my relentless efforts in achieving success in life, when one discovers who he is, then no one can come challenging you about anything concerning yourself because you have already taken full responsibility for yourself right before their coming.

Knowing who you really are and knowing your limits is really a good thing to further improve yourself and to put yourself in a place where you can really work effectively. If a person knows and acknowledges his weakness he will gonna try to avoid those things and focus to do the things he likes the most and that will be one of the reasons the person lives longer because if you're doing what you really want, you are actually chasing your happiness and you are drifting away from your sadness and all of these requires knowledge so that you won't be falling into something that will gonna stress you so much without even knowing it.
Sometimes I feel like I don't really know who I am, and i think is affecting me in one way or the other, one thing a person should know first in life is to discover his or her self, when you can define who you are and what you can do then you can improve in your life, like me sometimes I sit myself down and start asking myself some question, which I have not been able to answer up till this moment, knowing yourself make one to discover his or full potential, I know many people out there are going through the same thing  going through right now, and if there is any Solution please share with me.

This was a really hard one to answer. At some point the way we think we are is so different on others point of view. For me now, I'm not 100% sure that I already know myself, like the things I want in life, how I react on one situation, what I wanna be someday, these are some of lots of question I still don't have answer yet. Maybe finding ourselves is not so easy. For now I'm letting things to happen or simply I can say is I'm just going with the flow. I do believe I still have so many things need to know about myself, day by day I will start learning new things about me. I think its a constant thing in everyone of us. As of this moment while typing this reply I can say I'm in a good condition right now, I'm just embracing all the good things that is happening in me and try removing the negative thoughts in my mind which is not helpful but at some point I know I can learn from it.

I’d like to think I know who I am, but that’s a lot easier than knowing how other people see you. I’m always surprised at the differences in people’s opinions of myself. I hear both that I am a saint and sinner that I am generous and greedy. I guess it’s hard to always be your best self, but you also can’t control other people’s projections of themselves onto their opinions of you.

I think I know who I am & what little old me offers the world. I am not a rich man but I am a loving man & I work hard to provide & care for my family. I think in life you need to learn to love yourself before you can be happy & be the best version of yourself possible. I think being happy with yourself & your situation in life is important, I guess that is a big part of knowing who you are & what your role is.

The question appears rhetorical, but it isn't if you think about it carefully. Knowing oneself is critical because it provides proper direction and focus in life as one travels through the life journey. Many people have failed to understand their life's purpose, leading a haphazard existence without direction because they do not understand what they want, what they need to know, or the best path to take in life.

Throwing this question back to myself as the OP in the title, my response will be; I've known myself to some extent, and I can be proud that I know where I'm leading my life. I've faced many challenges, but they haven't stopped me from moving forward and focusing on what I want. I simply believe that if there is still life in me, I will definitely obtain and achieve my life's goal. I would say that I know who I am and what I want in order to live a prosperous life.

Many people get mixed up when trying to find out who they are. They mix who they are with what they are, and they keep getting wrong answers that way.

Cool

Yea, they keep getting wrong answers and unfortunately they will not know that their answers are wrong and they will base who they are on a very wrong premise. The phrase "Man know thyself " has thrown people into confusion.
I don't think I am anything except if I define some principles into myself. That is my perception of knowing myself.
For instance. Assuming if I drink bear, I'll have health issues and go to hospital and spend huge amount of money and then all my friends love partying and drinking. Knowing myself is to subtract myself from such friends in order to save myself. There's no mystery about knowing oneself.

It is still a journey to knowing myself completely, life is a journey of self-discovery, but I am happy that I already know much about myself. Many people do not know much about themselves yet, that is one reason why they can always and easily be influenced by other people's decisions and opinions. If you know yourself well, your decisions will be made based on your choices and not from the influence of another person.

Understanding oneself is a powerful tool for personal freedom.

A vast majority of individuals, estimated at 99%, lack self-awareness, which leaves them vulnerable to exploitation by the 1% who possess this skill. Each person is created as a unique being with a particular purpose to fulfill, but many get caught up in serving those who have already discovered their life's calling
To achieve a life of purpose and make a significant impact on the world, individuals must be willing to abandon all distractions and make necessary sacrifices to uncover their true calling

there is a term "don't know then don't love" that word conveys the meaning that we have to know and love ourselves better. if we do not know ourselves, how will we live? how will we know what is going on within us? it is important to know who we really are, so that in the future we will know our weaknesses and strengths. so as not to torture yourself.

Knowing who you truly are starts with self discovery.
Self discovery in the sense that you come to understand your true self by finding out your main purpose,
And giving proper attention to what you really desire in life.It gives you the opportunity to take a honest look at areas
Of your life that need improvement. In the process of self discovery,we often find out that we have not been living our lives
In a way that's not genuine to ourselves.
Finding out who you are is a good thing and its your responsibility to embark on that journey to finding your true self.

You will never really even begin to know yourself until you realize that you are a child made by God... made in His image.

This life on earth is simply one of many. Look at the movies that talk about giving people robot-like bodies, yet keeping their brains so that they are not complete robots. Even though our life penetrates out bodies way more than can be built into robots, still we can be changed.

And change is what our Father in Heaven is doing for us when we die. Through the salvation wrought by God's Son Jesus, we will be saved for a new life in Heaven. The only requirement is that we believe this... and express our faith by how we live.

That's the point when we really start to know who we are.

When someone gone through a lot, that's when he'll be able to know himself better. I know myself better and I know what I can do, not just for myself but also for other good people and I'm talking about good things to the point that even myself can be given to them if I want to.

I believe not everybody is destined to be rich but everyone should live a comfortable life. Let everyone have their basic needs at least.
There's balance in this world but that balance makes a lot of people suffer and it's just hard to break the equilibrium but I do agree, that everyone should have their basic needs.

But there's the sad truth behind it that many still can't.

If some one walks up to me and asked who are you: I won't just tell the person my details. The world is full of evil and secondly if you walk to a person you have to introduce yourself. "Who are you" can also be a philosophical question that can come with different answers. Religiously, I don't know who I am because it's God that determines everybody's life. But if your knowing who you is associated to acquiring wealth because you know your worth, I am not part of it. I hear some religious preachers preach that everyone is created to be rich, and no one is destined to be poor. I believe not everybody is destined to be rich but everyone should live a comfortable life. Let everyone have their basic needs at least.

You can understand the needs that prompt a person to ask such existential questions, but how do you expect him to identify himself, according to you. To know who you are means to study who you are, and this, in my opinion, is not easy for ordinary people and small-minded people.

This question is existential and has been asked by mankind since the beginnings of history, and philosophy has tried to provide approaches to thinking about the subject, but it has never succeeded in providing complete answers about who we really are and what is the purpose of our existence.
