I dabbled a handful of times but I won't be bothering again.

There's no rhyme or reason as to what explodes and what doesn't unless you're the pumper.

The coins I was considering buying a little of died right in front of me just as I was about the take the plunge, and it's happening with increasing frequency.

There's no way of telling who's legit and who isn't. Everything's drowning in a mass of shouting.

From now on I'd only consider getting in on the ground floor.

Wtf... whichever mod moved this did not understand the point of this poll. Please move it back to bitcoin discussion the point of this pole is to see which bitcoiners are interested in altcoins.

Agree. My first thought was "What's the point of making such poll in the altcoin section".

I invest in them for fun. Not really to be too serious about them. But I'm not doubting some of their superiority.

There will be great opportunity in Ethereum after(if) release(d). So called contracts makes new platform for new developing applications.

I have tried mining but my laptops won't do the work. I'll buy computer from my friend, enchant it a bit and mine new currencies (won't buy rigs or asics.. yet.. maybe later if ROI becomes smaller).

I have invested about half of my bitcoins right now in 5 altcoins.

And i'm currently involved with altcoin that combines NXT with Auroracoin: link to bitcointalk topic about FIMK

The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Where else can you see an investment go up 1000% in a day, but in altcoins?  The problem is not the altcoins themselves, but rather separating the few true alt coins from the shitcoins taking advantage of the open source nature of alt coins and unregulated financial markets for the sole purpose of fleecing BTC from bigger fools.

I have dabbled in alt-coins but am now fully in Bitcoin. Not because I think there is anything wrong with alts at all - I hope we always have them. But the smartest investment right now, in my opinion, is Bitcoin.

I don't mind altcoins in the slightest, some of them are actually looking very worthwhile, you just have to do your research, a lot of people here don't like altcoins though because the supporters come here to spam or they're just clones of the Bitcoin/Litecoin code rather than genuine innovations.

I see a very anti altcoin attitude here some times and I was wondering. How many people in the official Bitcoin Discussion section invest in altcoins?
