Did anyone pay for the China custom tax when your miner broke down, and you ship it back for warranty repairs?

Kindly advise.

You should ask your tax office. The last time I had a repair in China, customs wanted to charge me the full tax amount again as the device came back.
They said I should have exported the device for repair purposes. They cannot distinguish between a new and a repaired device.
Thanks, +1 to this suggestion. OP when you unexperienced, it really sucks because such difficult situations can came like this person said and it will cause problems.
You don't have to pay them anything and you don't have to pay. Some people don't knows it and lies to customs by making antminer less visible like a new one.

Bitmain has a specific way to fill out paperwork on warrantied devices so you dont have to pay full price to import them. It is listed on their site.

I did stated on the UPS form, that it is for repair under warranty.

But still China custom wants to collect tax for the importation.

So much trouble, might as well I get it repair locally.

Thanks anyway.

That's actually a much better solution.
Due to the taxes and pain that you'll experience, when dealing with china.
