This forum has inspired me because I learned and earned at the same time, so definitely I would still continue to contribute even without signature in my profile, but to the question that if I would post more, I honestly, Think I could not because, maybe my posting having will be down to 50% and I won't be so active as I am now.

There is a requirement in a signature campaign, like in my case that's 25 posts a week minimum, so base on my experience I post more because I am more motivated due to the reward I am getting, and I think most of us in the forum do, based on what I noticed.

I saw accounts that was removed in chipmixer campaign that are not as active as they use to.

I don't. In fact as of late I've seldom posted due to the fact that there are barely any interesting discussions that I've seen.

Then start some.

It would be disingenuous of me to say I don't post more or more consistently due to having a sig thing. It doesn't change my behaviour. It might magnify it.

There's stuff I couldn't do or pretend to be interested in for the sake of a signature campaign. That's why I could never see myself doing a gambling one unless they didn't give a shit about their bitch never posting a single thing about gambling.

If the alt section was paid I might venture in the more general threads but that's in doubt as more than a few minutes in there and I get a nosebleed due to the usual quality of discourse.

you can't get more ironic then this thread. Shocked
Yes 24 posts
2 do not advertise
2 are for the posters own business
20 are for paid signatures

I don't understand why you took that thread as an example of something bad? This is a legitimate thread in which the OP wants to warn others to not endorse people who are actually spamming (double spamming with links for which they are paid for + signature spamming). I don't see anything ironic in that thread, and you got a pretty good explanation of what this is really about, but again you repeat the same thing again...

Advertising in signature/avatar/personal text is allowed, it is not allowed in post area.

Is this correct or do I misunderstand you?
You got me wrong. I was talking about the way the advertising is done. We have many members in the forum advertising in their signature space without breaking any rule. Just visit the post history of the user I referred in the OP.
Rule number 24:

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]
As you know, wearing a signature to advertise a service is allowed.

Ads are typically not allowed in posts (outside of the signature area) because they are annoying and off-topic. It is especially disallowed to put ads or signatures at the bottom of all of your posts. Except for traditional valedictions, which are tolerated but discouraged, signatures are for the signature area only.

Having the signature doesn't really affect my posting habits... what really affects my posting habits is my work roster! Tongue

Some weeks, I'll make like 10 posts because I'm busy working and/or too tired to look at the forum. Other weeks, I'm on standby or rostered days off and I hang out on the forum more... hell some weeks I'll end up way over the "max" number of paid posts. It's not like I say to myself "I must make X number of posts per week" to maximise revenue. I just participate as/when I feel I can... some weeks that is a lot and some weeks not so much.

Heh, I can really relate to that today.
I was expecting to be sitting on my ass surfing the web with not much to do.
I made 1 post about 3 hours ago when I started work. Made a cup of coffee and now it's 3 hours later, my coffee is cold and I have not done anything online anywhere because the phone did not stop ringing.

In regards to the subject field of this thread, in most cases "YES".
- I always had an on & off relationship with wearing [prior to my previous campaign participation that ended 3 weeks ago, I wasn't a campaign participant for almost a year] someone else's signatures [with the exception of promoting my own services] but if time wasn't an issue, I usually make on average around 1-5 daily posts [with/without paid sigs].

What I can't see is what is the cause and what is the effect.
Cause = Potential earning/income.
Effect = More spam/money [both for the owner and participants].
- Having said that, I'm not saying every single campaign participant is just another spammer.

Not really.
Only 15 posts are paid in my campaign and I usually write about 30 posts per week.
I simple like to be here and to participate in some interesting discussions.
If someone will pay me for something I will do any way even better 😀
In fact,  there are certain conditions to join my campaign like number of received merits,  forum reputation,  quality of posts etc.
So,  campaign manager chose the best candidates and we just  continue with our normal activities in the forum, like before campaign started.

You are right. In my signature campaign, we are demanded to make quality posts. You know, 4 best posters will get extra payment every week. From this case, the signature campaign leads people to be good posters (quality). But surely it is not always applied to all signature campaigns.

Well, to improve rank, is also another good impact from making quality posts. And to make quality posts, the point is improving your knowledge and experience in the forum. It is the common formula, isn't it?  Smiley

To say about that, it has at least 4 main componential factors (with the assumption that you have same amount of time on the forum):
Damned! Sorry if I upset someone.Maybe I'm wrong, but you're too rigid to communicate on this forum
Whenever I see any of your posts, they are always analytical posts about the elements. I agree with the analysis, but it is only relevant to the job. Every time I see you, analyze, analyze, analyze, ... LOL although this is just a simple topic, a conversation, you bring damn analysis. Just answer yes or no to this topic.

Of course, we tend to post more when participating in a certain campaign, undeniable, unless we are more busy.

Signature space for rent
Its been long time somehow I am related with some campaign, usually I do not count my post for weekly requirements. But I have been making posts somewhere near 40 even though my weekly requirements is just 25 post. But what I remember, I made more post when I were not on any signature campaign last year(if I am not wrong). Also sometimes its depend on free time. I believe everyone here have some personal business or job, so always can't spend same time here.

But as a campaign manager I have some more experience. Some people just meet with weekly requirements exactly, and some people made very less post after end of campaign. I think it's normal behaviour, but some users I noticed that they even being inactive after end of campaign. But I won't consider it's a normal behaviour. They just seek for campaign and start posting again when they accepted. Usually I tried to avoid accept such as participants from my campaign. I believe this forum is for discussions, just not for signature campaign.

I dont know if you enjoyed it too, but at least now you seem to always improve the quality of your posts because otherwise you will be excluded from the campaign (maybe) and secondly you will also not get a chance to rise to a higher rank.

I do it 2 or 4 posts per day, I do it when using sig or not using it.

However, when I installed it or not, I also never posted it at all that day.

Sometimes these people have a boredom in carrying out their activities both in the forum and outside the forum, not hypocritical that sig boosted all post activity in this Forum, no exception, that's for sure.

To say about that, it has at least 4 main componential factors (with the assumption that you have same amount of time on the forum):
  • The level of user maturation: I don't know what happens with the others but for me, in the past, in some periods I got affected by campaigns I participated in. When I participated in campaigns, I posted more, and my posting rates increased dramatically when I joined pay-per-post campaigns. However, as I said, it happened with me for a long time in the past. There are exceptions but the odds is low, for the most users I think they experienced nearly the same I had.
  • The number of questions of the others you see: If I see more questions, that I can answer and help, I will post more than usual. You can not self-create questions, then self-answer them. It breaks the forum's rules.
  • Own situations of each user at specific period (week, for example): If in one week, I created 2 or 5 new threads, that are helpful and attractive, I am sure that my posts will do increase because I have to response to questions or recommendations of the others.
  • The forum's conditions have effects too: During some crazy periods, the forum becomes very active. Such as when merit system born, default trust changed, flags born, art contest, Christmas and New year events, etc. I am sure total posts in the forum (weekly, ie.) will do rise significantly.

Above all, the level of user maturation is the dominant factor. When one becomes more matured, his posting behaviour will be less affected by campaigns.

Let's take my case, my campaign asks only 25 posts per week but I usually make 50 to 60 posts per week and I still feel happy with that. There is no pressure on my head when I compose my posts.

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
To be honest, from the past I feel like I didn't want to post more like I do when I am wearing a signature. But just recently I enjoy even getting some 3 or more posts on the forum as I enjoy being with the discussion even I don't wear a paid signature and I did it as well so that if there are openings they can see that I did well on posting. I didn't mean just to monetize the forum but if there can be reward to harvest while staying in then I'll take that opportunity, there's no harm in there as long as you doing fine and just don't do shitpost or harming other users.

Well, the reality is most of the people especially those who wears signature well likely to post more and in just rare cases that few people will post even if they haven't had any paid signature on their profile.

Do you know you are going to be spending more time on the forum so you look for a signature?
If you mean wearing a signature because of promoting a project, surely someone will be more active because he has a responsibility to fulfill the demand of the project. However, it doesn't mean someone will make posts massively because I think the number of common posts needed in a week is only around 10 - 25 posts. It is still normal in my view. If you are an active poster, you must make about 5 posts a day, so it means about 35 posts every single week. So, it is actually no need more time, just post as usual. It is more than enough, right?

If paid sigs went away it would not change my posting habits, but as I said, I'm here might as well make a buck.
Definitely. Paid signature is only one of the ways to earn money. There are still many ways to earn money, buddy. By the way, remember that the paid signature is like an extra income only. So, if it doesn't exist anymore, we still can go with our daily activities (trading and investing).

Not really. I don’t have too much time recently since I’m doing some heavy traveling and I prefer to enjoy the cities instead of spending too much time online (which is the only way I can post as I usually do).

For example: My campaign’s weekly post count are getting way bellow the maximum of 50. This week I only did 24 posts, for example. Less time = less posts OR same post count but lower quality. My posts never were so damn good or special, and they probably got a bit worst lately due to my lack of time to read, but I don’t really force myself to spam to get the 50 posts per week. And I think this is a good signal (personally for me) and some proof that at least I try to maintain a level of quality. Just some venting... Tongue

I've only been few weeks last year without paid signature. And then I didn't noticed that I post less. I'm just addicted to Bitcointalk and visiting this forum and making posts here is my daily habbit (or routine sometimes).
But honestly, I wouldn't had made over 6000 posts if there wouldn't be signature campaigns.
But I never try to count how many posts I make each week. I'm just sure that I reach 25 posts limit easy. Sometimes I look at spreadsheet, and I see that I made 26, 30 or sometimes even 40 posts, despite that I get paid just for 25 posts. When I was without paid signature, I'm sure that I was making similar number of posts.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
Currently, I'm building my habit of trying to make good posts (IMO) at least 1 to 3 every day because previously, I wasn't very active in making posts. I've opened several campaigns that are moderated by top managers in the bounties section that on average require for more than 10 posts per week for signature campaigns. Apparently this is still difficult as I thought. Maybe I should cancel my plans to join the signature campaign in the near future.
I just don't wanna suddenly become a spammer here if I wear a signature later (if at this time maybe everyone consider me a spammer, it means to be morethan just a spammer).

Signature instigates post making, that's one of the task to make a profit from registered signature. Apart from your reward in making those posts, it also increases one's merit andrank. That's why the which ever post you make is a means of publicizing the project. And the project managers are after quality posts.you can't wear 2 signatures at a time, but you may try Twitter and facebook for various projects at a time.

I've never rented a signature on any of the forums where I am active. I use my signature for personal messages, links to my sites, and sometimes I promote services that I use and trust. I would never promote as site that I didn't use just for payment. I'm aware that my signature affects my reputation, and I don't want to entrust that to some possible scam.

Do you have a problem with this topic? Do you understand what is freedom of speech? In fact, this topic is just a normal question, it could be a question from OP, or anyone else. Not important, because we have the freedom to speak, we have the freedom to share our thoughts or questions. From the outset, advertising through signatures is a allowed thing on this forum, as long as we don't go around spamming and promoting something through links or putting shitposting constantly in this forum, everything is still fine, this topic too.

I think I speak for a lot of us here, many people are the same. This community brings us together for our shared love of bitcoin.
I'm not so sure about the first part of that, and I would say it would depend on what the maximum number of posts you can get paid for per week, month, or whatever.  If you look at some of the absolute garbage posts that get made here, and there are a lot of them, you can tell that many members are just churning out crap because they're getting paid.  They likely wouldn't even be members of bitcointalk if they weren't in a campaign or bounty.

When I joined the forum, I really didn't know what signature campaigns were though I quickly learned that they were responsible for some of the most idiotic posts I'd ever read on a discussion forum.  My immediate impression of bitcointalk was that it had a very bizarre vibe to it.  Members weren't responding to each others posts, which is usually the case on other forums.  People would give the same answers to questions asked in the OP of a thread without regard to answers that were previously given--it was like robots were writing posts.  Very strange.

Then I figured out what sig campaigns were and it was obvious that those zero-thought posts were done for money.

Since I wasn't referred to bitcointalk and didn't come here to make money, I didn't join a campaign until about nine months after I registered and I only did it because I figured I might as well make a little bitcoin for posting, which I was going to be doing anyway.  I've always enjoyed posting here, and I did learn a lot of things I didn't know about crypto.

But as far as whether I'd be posting less if I wasn't in a campaign, I'm not so sure.  I don't always make the max number of posts per week for Chipmixer, and sometimes I make more.  I'm not here for the money, but it is a nice bonus I'll admit.

Speaking of useless stats, Yobit numbers confirm your suspicion that some users post a lot more after joining a campaign: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cryptotalk-signature-campaign-participants-2019-11-21-5203176

When Yobit had the last campaign in the spring (the un-moderated one) that turned into a crap show followed by the bans I actually took part in it for the exact reasons I am in one now. I knew I was going to be stuck in the office / onsite working and figured what the heck. I had more posts in 2 weeks then I did in the previous 2 months. I also logged more posts in the bike forum I was on then in all of year before....

I think everyone has a different opinion about your question, but honestly if I use a signature, it will increase the number of my posts each week and may be able to exceed the maximum amount paid on the signature that I follow.

When using signatures, I am used to posting with good quality and might be useful for others. The positive thing I can do is improve the quality of my posts when using signatures.

With or without the signature that I use, I can also post good things so I also have the chance to rank-up because of that. The number of my posts will be smaller when I do not use signatures, this is because I am accustomed to making observations and reporting a large number of useless posts on several boards that I meet and also I read more posts that can improve the quality of my posts in the future.

My posting habit is relatively the same when I have a paid signature on and when I do not. I find topics I am interested in and join the discussion naturally. However, I would make an effort to reach the post quota if I am on a signature campaign.

I tried to do a check with the previous two weeks when I was without a signature, but that coincided with the festive season and I wasn't posting much on the forum due to that.

I am only a student and do not have much of the time to spend in reading and posting in the forum. I do have a lot of homeworks that needs to be done before the due date that is why there is a time that I do not post frequently in the forum.

As of now I am wearing a signature, but I think it did not change my posting behaviour and I am not being pressured to post in order to reach certain quota per day. It just comes naturally whenever there is a thread that attracts my attention.

The good thing about wearing a signature is that you getting paid while you are learning and making friends in the community. I personally treat this as a paid hobby.

I actually applied for a sig campaign in part because I thought "I'm gonna be posting a lot over the next few months because I'll be working on so why not get paid for it and cover some expenses of the aforementioned project". It didn't work out that way so I ended posting less than I expected and probably about the same as my usual average. Now I got into another project so maybe I'll catch up.

I did adjust my posting habits a little bit since joining the campaign: I post long lists of useless stats in the Archival board, and I try to keep some snarky posts under 100 chars so that I don't waste campaign funds on them.

If paid signature campaigns were to remove I doubt many will still be posting more than what they are posting without any signature. Let's be real here. Signature campaign is some sort of a boost for members here to post more often since they are paid.

But I'm sure there are still will post even though without campaign since posting here in forum is also a good way of interaction with other people. I have signature too but only needed 10 but I'm always exceed this cause can help myself posting more if I found a good convo or topic to budge in.

Do you know you are going to be spending more time on the forum so you look for a signature?

Full disclosure I am wearing a sig when I post this, I had not had one for a while since the last campaign I was on ended.

I knew I was going to be spending a lot of time at clients over the next few weeks and that I would have a lot of time while was there to post stuff since I am waiting for stuff to happen before I can do the next "job" onsite.

So, I went looking and found a signature campaign. It's kind of like, I am going to be here and posting might as well get paid for it. On the same note when I knew I was going to be posting less and not certain I would be able to post in the gambling sections I left campaign I was in.

I know there are the spam / junk posters on some campaigns that are just bulk but I was wondering how most of the people here in meta felt about it, since it tends to be overall a better group of posters here. (yeah, that's not good English you know what I mean)

The optics of what I see is that when people are wearing sigs they post more. What I can't see is what is the cause and what is the effect.
Just wondering on how it works for all of you.

Note: If paid sigs went away it would not change my posting habits, but as I said, I'm here might as well make a buck.
