Depends on what purpose. I mean let's face it, a lot of fund raising campaigns done today are only for the personal gains of the people initiating it. I wouldn't mind making donations or taking part in fund raisers as long as they're from well trusted people.

If you are talking about donation-based coins then it is an obvious scam.
In other cases even established charity organizations are not really helping people. I mean it is always better for poor people to get something from you instead of nothing but all efforts are worthless until you are not fight the reason of their poverty.

Except for few, I don't believe in most of the donation based coins.
There sure are exceptions that are themselves or with association with different groups working for a cause. But most of others are a easy cash strategy of some Nigerian scam group or a desperate Indian.

Every now and then, charity organisations are being established to provide aid to the needy people across the globe. Despite the many donations made by  philanthropists to help the needy, majority of the funds that are meant for the less privileged are channeled to other use. From all indications, it seems most of the individuals behind these charity organizations are  interested in their selfish interest other than the common interest of the poor. People have lost trust in the society and the people in it. In the name of charity, some individuals have enriched themselves to the detriment of the needy who are entitled to the donations, this has discouraged some philanthropists from taking part in fundraising for the needy.
