I keep notes on what bills are pending and how much debts I still need to pay. It keeps me pretty focused on the job. on/off-line.

not working online but Using Rainymood is a good way IMO, it at least gives you a background sound and doesn't let you lose your focus (and provide some entertainment)... Of course self-control help (or using some blocker and banning your computer from accessing Reddit/bitcointalk).

Okay, what sick bastard started this thread? I was in full working on my white paper mode when I came to this forum to hunt a piece of data and was met with this new thread. How the fuck am I supposed to get the task at hand completed when...

I'll finish this later, for I just got a notice that a new girl just logged in over at MFC.

Stay away from coffee and softdrinks, take short breaks every 20 minutes or so. It helps a lot.

money and self-control. sometimes it's difficult to work from home when someone else is near me and constantly asking me something :-)

Try to have a space that is solemnly for work, if you can't manage that, make sure you have things planned out that you need to finish. If you have a creative job, be sure to take your breaks and go out and leave your computer, I came up with the best idea's or solutions for problems just by taking a break or go out for lunch.

Turn off you social pages, set WhatsApp and everything else on busy. If you have a spouse and you work at home, you have to make clear that time spend at home is for work, and you are not able to do the dishes and vacuum "just because you're home", even when you have you break / lunch this is not the time do clean the house, a break is a break, not a change of type of work.

I don't have a fulltime online job but from my experience it's not that hard to find people that are willing to pay for gigs like programming, design, content creation, copywriting, marketing etc. People usually go from gigs to regulars and in some cases fulltime freelancing. IMO That's not something for everyone though.

Content creation is the easiest job to get started with in my opinion. You don't need to have any knowledge on technical stuff to start a blog about something or write articles for someone else. But it also has a lower payment if you're just getting started. If you're really interested to get into that, I could give you a couple of tips so feel free to PM me.

OP and repliers what you guys work at ? I wish I could work online at home feeling comfy af specially now during winter which is a PITA going out.

Well when I'm working on Jewellery I can't really do music, not with headphones and stuff anyway because I might ruin them or get myself set on fire ( yes genuine hazard because I use a blowtorch ) but for a lot of my work I just need a decent computer with an internet connection. Once I get everything set up I'll also be dealing with molten metal so that's a definite no no because I need to concentrate so I don't set the house on fire.

I am pretty much unemployed right now, haven't broken that tax threshold yet but I hope to in 2015 lol Sad Tongue

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
I'm easily distracted, so it takes me twice as much time to do the task when I'm at home, but that's not a problem, at least it doesn't tire me.
My advice for you: prepare everything before you start working. Get a coffee or whatever you like to drink, all the materials, phone and the stuff you might need close, so you won't have to stand up and look for it. If you're listening to music make a playlist earlier and tell other people that you're busy. The biggest distraction at home are people and pets.

How do you stay away from distraction when you're at regular work? I'd just learn some self-discipline as there probably isn't any other tricks to help.

Music also help me.
I listen nice, relax music and usually try to work when I'm alone at home.

Self-discipline.

Really? That's all for you? Apparently discipline isn't enough for me, even when I'm in the mood to keep working on something all day I won't be nearly as productive without listening to music and blocking distractions in some way or another.

Do whatever works best for you! The Pomodoro Technique can be helpful for time management too.

Mine is to listen to uplifting music while working, preferably vocal dubstep and edm. I'm also occasionally using a browser extension to keep myself from entering the horrendous wonderlands of distraction like reddit.

What do you do to stay focused?
