Why do you want invest into one project only? Split your investment amount and invest into DAO and NEM. Both are promising projects, although DAO had some massive problems, but the technology is the future. It is just still a little immature.

Avoid DAO, it's like an infection you don't want to have.

If they hardfork, ethereum loses all credibility. If they only softfork to lock the funds, the DAO tokens will be worth about half of the initial buy in due to the limited ether remaining, which means the price cannot go much higher than it is now. Furthermore, the project is likely to be canceled and people will be able to return their tokens for eth, which may cause a massive sell off of ether bought just for the purpose of buying DAO.

NEM is a very cool project. I have been interested in it since the start and they are finally being valued how they should be. I think there is still room to grow, but consolidation has to happen first. It seems to hold well around 1400-1600 now, but a new pump may take a while to start.

In my humble opinion, both are overvalued now, and I would wait a bit until I invest in them.

DAO because it is buggy and if there is really a fork that would be a really a hit for the whole Ethereum ecosystem including DAO. I expect Ethereum to recover somewhen (on a higher level if they decide not to fork), but there is even danger that Lisk could pass them as the premier smart contract platform.

NEM because there was a large pump and I expect the price to go back a bit, or to stagnate on a market cap of 70-100 million for a prolonged period. NEM may be a good long-term investment though because it has evolved into a pretty solid cryptocurrency project.

In short: I would favour NEM, but wait a bit because there should be better buying opportunities.

Invest in DOA or NEM?
And why?

I would like prefer to invest in NEM rather than DOA. I think NEM have more value in the future than DOA, jan 2016 ago NEM price was 76 sat, n now around 1,8k sat.

Given the current, in progress debacle that is the slock.it DAO, is it really all that bright to invest into smart contract corps at the moment?

Methinks we should give this a little time to work out the bugs. Who buys the prototype version of a project anyway? First gen things are notoriously ridden with bugs.
