Scatological scribing could be elevated to an art form.

Camille Pissarro was a Neo-impressionist painter who died in the Virgin Islands. Was he the original piss artist?

Anyway, no.  There's an art to trolling, but not to shitposting.  The latter is just a lame attempt at earning money through writing, somewhere between those awful self-published ghetto novels on Amazon and a bunch of monkeys pounding their keyboards and hitting "Post" at the end.  Some of them incidentally come out in an amusing way, which is why we have that thread in Meta for shitposts so bad they're almost good--but those are rare.

You mean like this one:

That's an actual "book" by the way. I was tempted to get the audiobook from audible just for a laugh. My personal favourite though:

The Flat Earth thread in off-topic is worth checking out, the pinnacle of shitposting.  You will be entertained without a doubt Smiley

Once you start asking for proof, their arguments fall apart pretty quickly.  Smiley

I think 99% of flat-earthers online are just trolls. It's easy bait for them to rile people up.

It depends on what you actually refer to as shitposting, everyone has his or posting varieties,or what one would love to look out for in a forum. For example someone whos a political apathist, could consider posts in the p&S section as not being worthy of discussion as it doesn't appeal to him or her.
But the actual shitposting is a post that's meaningless, and it's a whole lot different from a post that you do not subscribe to, jumping into a convo and saying something a 100miles different from the discussion is what is shitposting, dropping one liners every single time, that your post history becomes annoying for one to scam through. Those are the chronic shitposters.
Just look at the huge plagarism problem you get here
I think this is the worst form of shitposting,it could be accepted if you post crap from your head, but stealing is frowned upon anywhere in the world

No the shitpost in itself is just that something that should be dumped forgotten and possibly introduced into the Saint Lawrence river.

However if it were part of a collection, then maybe so. It would be the first step in someone transforming their identity from a steaming pile on a keyboard, to useful/helpful/knowledgable member while also being entertaining. I know it's asking a lot but it would need to be an extraordinary transformation to drag a shitpost into any form of art, and not a white whale I'm counting on.

If I had to think of shitposting as art, it would be more of the Piss Christ variety, and not akin to an attempt at the Mona Lisa.

The standard shitpost is something about "when I join bitcoin it change my life, its a decentralized cryptocurrency that goes up day by day."  I've read variations of that so many times on bitcointalk that it's become the archetype for what I think constitutes a shitpost.  That's not art.  That's a bunch of shit smeared on a white wall in a Jackson Pollock pattern, and nobody stops by to appreciate it.  They quickly walk on by.

Well that would certainly be a new excuse for our bingo card. I wasn't spamming; I was creating art. You just don't understand my vision.

Is bashing your head against the keyboard art? Is watching a monkey fling his shit at a wall art? No. A shitpost is just a low quality post. You get them on any forums, but on this one the behaviour is magnified because there's financial incentive to do so and to maximise profits people squeeze out posts over multiple accounts as quickly as possible and thus degrades the quality of content even more. Just look at the huge plagarism problem you get here. On how many other forums would people sign up just to copy and paste someone else's post from earlier in a thread. It's probably barely heard of outside of this forum because there would be little point to it anywhere else.

Does someone consider shitposting as an art? Really? Maybe people will just say this is just a shit question  Cheesy But some people might claim to say that it is a way of expressing their ideas/thoughts.

In some ways in cryptocurrency platforms such as steemit or even here for sig campaign, or any kind of sites that has a rewarding system, people will take advantage and move forward to make money instead of making worthy contributions.

Some people here make shitposts every day just to stay active, or to complete their daily/weekly/monthly quota or even get x numbers of activity--but, no, merit has walled them out of it.

But what really is a shitpost? A post without value. So what is a value?
Had seen many image memes or short post but never took them as a shit post, I just laugh at them then scroll.

So what do you think? Anyway I didnt expect if someone really do.
