As much as I like Litecoin, it's just another alt chain that isn't Bitcoin.  IMHO there should be some normalization of alt coin exchange rates based roughly upon difficulty, market cap, and block reward.

NO !

litecoin as terracoin i used olny by miners, and after bitcoin reward drop, Bitcoin price goes up, LTC and TRC down (because more miners will mine LTC anc TRC, and sell,  )

TRC dilutes the market and takes interest away from LTC, so yes, I do believe that TRC is a threat to LTC.

Things may change radically with ASIC but there is no ASIC around right now.

Supposed to be about 11 days to go... maybe 15 then first ones will hit the customers hands and be joining the network(s)

I dont either. I'm struggling just to find what makes it unique or even necessary TBH.

LTC has the best security exchange by a country mile.

I don't see TRC as a threat to LTC myself.

It certainly is possible, however for the time being LTC will be just fine with many bitcoin GPU miners moving over.

FPGAs are doing Littecoin now? Hmm, I think you got that one wrong, if I'm not mistaken.

Not so simple. the hardware must be re-engineered to accommodate fast memory bandwidth. Scrypt is more memory intensive than SHA-256 and needs more speed.

Or so I hear.

I don't think they do now but they have the potential to mine Litecoin once someone rights the code to.

I personally don't but I've heard a couple people mention that the two are very similar once you get past the algo-differences.

I think once ASICs arrive ifTerracoin is still around at least someone will be tempted to put their ASIC on Terracoin once in awhile if only just to blow the difficulty through the stratosphere. Litecoin will remain a refuge for the GPU miners and FPGA miners. Although Litecoin was supposed to be a CPU only coin, it looks like it will remain for the near future at least an ASIC unfriendly (although of course not impossible if someone really wanted) chain.

Thoughts?
