Depends on the case of banning. If it is copy-pasting you may forget about any appeal. Every case of banning is different, but here on Meta board I saw couple of cases when people could to bring back their profiles, but as i understood it took a lot if time, because of for every appellation you need to contact with theymos and he is the most busy man on the forum, so it is very hard to take his attention. But such cases as those that I saw proves that it is not impossible to have your profile back  Smiley

I think that the ban appeal will eventually be evaluated, but there are many account problems that people are experiencing and I don't believe that the moderators have enough time or resources to sift through all the problems. I hear of some people waiting over a year to recover their hacked account and so I think your appeal wont happen any time soon.

Bans expire automatically regardless of whether anyone is monitoring that email address or not.

Just wait it out as it will expire in seven days and don't partake in any alt coin giveaways when you return.
Are that mail using Custom Web Server (theymos.e4ward.com) or they integrated in Existing Mail Server?
And about "expire in seven days", it means Administrators will watch that account?

Ban appeals do work, but they are situation dependent, on what you were banned for and the severity of the offense. If you had been an active member for a year, but broke a bunch of rules because you were stressed out and having a bad day, you may be unbanned after reflecting for an appropriate amount of time if you can demonstrate you understand what you did wrong and how you'll avoid doing that again in the future. If you were banned for copy and pasting, spamming for the purpose of a signature ad, or something similar, you are out of luck.

I don't think they work applying via that email. I'm not sure how often it's monitored if at all but if it's not or rarely is then it should probably be changed to direct people to meta instead as they're much more likely to get help or answers there.

This is exactly how things work on other forums as well. While removing a ban or any other punishment the mod of the forum sees a number of things. First is you r posting history or contribution to the forum. For instance, if your posting suggests that you are always there to help new members ans sharing useful guides, it means that you want this forum to go ahead. Minor mistakes may be forgiven for such members.

Then why they just send these message , these are irrelevant . If no one till today can recover ban through appealing then its just pointless. Other than Bitcoin talk , i see some posts in deeponion , the authority don't have any time to see it. I want a moderator or atleast theymos who approve the ban appeal comment here. I want to know the process.

I think this message will show when the account got a Permaban. I bet that your friend did something prohibited here in the forums, Like copy and pasting or something that deserve this BAN. The only way to recover your account, of the ban is to reach theymos, but it's too hard to do that because he is too busy to do more important things.

First you need to provide the link of the banned account then a staff can explain why it was banned,if that account was banned for copy pasting and you never can get back your account because you broke the rules of the forum so you are never allowed here to post anymore. In that case the ban appeal does not work so it is just a waste of time if you eve appeal too.
If you banned for some other reason then your appeal maybe reviewed by the administrator of our forum, but it will be hardly happened that someone recovered his account after it was banned.

I do not have any personal experience with this. Thus, I had to dig past posts related to ban appeals on this forum. One of the most common reason for this ban is posting copied content in posts. Did you made this mistake with the account ? If you did this mistake, there are very less chances of this ban getting removed. Here are some of those past threads you can read for more information on this:

Sorry XXXXXXXXX, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been banned by a forum moderator. You may appeal here: [email protected]

I just wondered how this system works , one of my friend told it doesn't work , may be the moderator don't respond in email. Please suggest any way who faced this message and recover his account.
- How much time one should wait after sending the mail ?
- How to appeal ?
- please describe the effectiveness of this process ?
